LS6 install

Just wonder what have people done. Remove the tabs on the bottom of the ls6 or get the 2001+ lines?

I grinded mine down with a dremel and then maybe a year or two later I bought the lines and block offs, not sure why

I'd grind down the ridges with a dremel, but only where it needs it.

I just knocked off the ridges on mine with a hammer and a flathead screwdriver.

A litle chizel and a hammer works fine. thats what I did. They knock right off. Take about five mins and I have had mine on over a year and it is still fine

When you get it all unbolted pull it forward just a little and than take off the brake booster hose on the back of the intake. If you don't you will do what many many many other people have done and brake the opsu.

I just chiseled off the bottom fins on mine too, if only for no other reason than saving $60 bucks. Also, the hardest part of the install was definitely detaching the fuel line. The plastic disconnect tools I had are crap. Very easy mod if you take your time.

You will have to do something about the EGR, unless you've already removed it.

I have gotten rid of egr and air already with my long tubes. I also had it tuned for the headers I may have them update the tune. I'm going to get ahold of Speed Inc where I got it tuned the first time and see if they think I should retune or hold out for my cam swap. Thanks again for all then info.

Be careful of the oil pressure sensor at the back right part of the block. The brake booster hose will hang it and break it....trust me i've done it. lol

If I were you Id just hold off on the tune until the cam swap. Shouldnt be a big deal.

And X2 for being cautious around that oil pressure sensor.

If possible I recommend running the 97-98 coolant line if your still running a 98 block. It has been proven to provide slightly better cooling for those back cylinders. We all know #7 needs all the help it can get. I did what everyone else did and cut the tabs on the bottem of the LS6 intake and It has not let me down for the past 8 years.
