Default ls6 modified with 90 opening or go fast 102???

i have a stock ls6 intake with the stock 78mm throttle body. i want to pick up some more power. my question is should i have my intake modified with a 90mm opening and get a bigger throttle body? which apparently wont cost an arm and a leg and i wont have to deal with tons of fitment issues. or should i just suck it up throw a ton money on the 102 and spend the next couple days getting it to fit on my camaro. i had a fast 90 a long time ago but i had to get rid of it cause i was having a problem with it so, i already have fast fuel rails. i completely re-did my fuel lines up front. a little info about the motor my bottom end is an ls2 402 and i have prc stage 3 ls6 heads and an ms4 cam.

The issue you will run into is that if the intake over all only flows so much, you will most likely still have restrictions. Most people at your level have moved on to a fast or a single plane with either a elbow and TB or straight carb. They have done this since their cyl head choice was better utilized.

I would advise to research for flow bench comparisions and see what you can dig up. i am sure there was some sort of improvement but whether it was meaningful or had any sort of legit impact I would say it will not. The only fitment issues I had with my FAST was the intake neck and that invovled a slight tap of that plastic hammer on the coolant cross over.

Why not sell the LS6 and buy a Fast 90/92 on ebay?

I would definitely try and get into a FAST for that motor. There is no way that an LS6 would compete with that large of a setup. I think it would be a waste of money to do that on that motor.

I have figured this one out. Two reasons I see.

1. They make more power.
2. They are not cheap to engineer (Apparentyl over a million dollars)

I found this a while ago while poking around.

1.5 million is prolly no big deal.Considering how many units they sell. They make their money back easy.If it was a crappy product though that would be 1.5 down the drain.

This .

OP, many of us have tested & measured airflow through modified LS6 intakes w/ larger openings (up to 90mm). Without question, the FAST is the better choice for a larger displacement motor, like yours. The FAST really shines here.

If you had been on stock cubes, the suggestion would be to go w/ the 90mm LS6, but, not with the LS2 short block. Basically, if you use the LS6, the increased runner air speed will cause the manifold pressure (MAP) to drop enough to lose efficiency. This will result in power restrictions.
