Default Need help removing crank pulley

I need to remove my crank pulley. I rented the 3 arm puller from autozone and everytime i get it on and start tightening it slips off. I have it tighened so that all the arms are secure. How do you guys get it off? It was easy to get the bolt loose. It is still threaded a tiny bit, just like the ls1howto website says to do. I am really up against the clock here to get this thing done. Help me please

I used an air impact wrench. Was a PITA, it came off a few times & had to redo, a few F bombs were dropped, but it finally came off.

That sounds like a way to remove the bolt, which i have had no problems with. My problem is taking the pulley off. The bolt is out, then threaded back in a tiny bit to use for the base of the pulley removal tool.

I'm currently doing my pulley as we speak, i bent the puller from autozone, I bought a 50$ one from sears, much better qaulity and strength, took it right out.

Dont rent the installer from autozone, it wont work. You have 3 options that will work best for you on a ls1.

1. Heat the pulley with a torch a little to help slide it on.

2. Longer crank bolt.

3. Threaded rod with nuts and washers.

chrysler (dodge product) 3 arm puller rented from oriley auto parts. Hook the arms on the back of the 3 ears on the pulley and bingo first time every time... Hope it works as good for you as it did for me.

3 arm puller, with the arms hooks works best. Got one for the steering wheel and it worked for the crank pulley.
