Default SLP Lid/CAI....worth it?

Hey guys, I'm new to the site. I just bought a 2000 Z28 and I wanted to add some bolt on's and I was wondering if the SLP lid and CAI is worth the cost.

What kind of gains (if any) can I expect from the lid alone, and what gains from the "package" with the lid, cai and smooth bellow?

Thanks.

Smooth bellow is pointless, more of a mental mod than anything. The lid is I good choice but some people have problems with it rubbing on the stock z28 hood. I'd look into a ftp lid. Also, look into the Chris1313 cold air.

All these parts can be had cheap in the classifieds, probably cheaper than the "package" from slp.

I would say the lid itself is worth it for sure as they are right around $100. The SLP bellow definitely looks much better but really has minimal gains performance wise if any at all. As far as the SLP cold air you are probably better off going with a super sucker, Chris1313 (speed inc), or even a fast toys ram air. I couldn't tell you any personal experience concerning the super sucker or fast toys but I did have the Chris1313 for a period of time. It is a decent set up but there were some aspects of it that I didn't like, although it has been proven over and over to gain a significant amount of power.

Lid itself will gain around 8-10 rwhp or so. Doesn't seem like much, but for the price and ease of install it is hard to beat.

With the ram air, and lid, I would expect to see around 8 to 10 rwhp.

Also look into getting an ls6 intake manifold. There is another 10 to 20 rwhp depending on who you talk to.

I got this exact CAI on my car (the whole package) it was my first mod. Fitment was great. Alittle costly imao... but it was worth it. I did FEEL the difference as soon as it was installed.

The chrs1313 is a better system if you plan to do anything in the future, as it goes all the way down to the bottom of the car to literally "scoop" in fresh, cold air.

I have the non-ac version, and I swear, when I start the car, it sounds like it could suck up a small child.

When it comes to the basic bolt on, everything and anything has already been tried and tested. Def use the search and you will find everything your looking for.

Thanks guys. I read through the stickies, but I just wanted some feedback.

I also have a 72 Camaro, no LS1 in there though. Have the 72 since 1995.
