Default Which Valley Cover for Heads & Cam

so i have heads and cam now with an LS1 intake and stock 99+ PCV system. would i benefit from changing over to an LS6 Valley Cover, and if so which one would be better? a 01-03 LS6 valley cover or 04 LS6 valley cover?

has anyone ever had problems switching over to an LS6 valley cover after putting a cam in the car? cam specs are high 20's intake, mid 30's exhaust.

mods are in sig

the early style uses a PCV .......the later style does not.......using it gets rid of the CRAPPY stock PCV hose system

Neither, run a catch can and you know oil won't be getting into the intake.

I'm in the same boat as the OP. Just bought an LS6 intake (first mod ftw!) and I'm debating my options. Right now, I'm thinking a new style LS6 valley cover with new knock sensors and knock sensor wire harness and possibly a Mike Norris style catch can. This eliminates the 10+ year old rubber hoses/pcv system that have likely gone to hell. I have future plans for heads/cam as well. I'm thinking right now that the catch can/LS6 Valley Cover may be the most effective way of keeping oil out of the intake.

Also, it looks like the most difficult part of the install is a little grinding. I'll probably have my mechanic take care of that one..

Nah man, all you need is a small dremel with a cutoff wheel to notch it a little bit that is if you have the older non ls6 block, its not even that much material you need to take off just make sure you tape off all the openings and then clean it up good.

My 2000 block needed no grinding to fit the new style ls6 valley cover. Bolted right in

OP- Didn't mean to hijack your thread bro. I followed your build thread and have very similar plans for my WS6. I think the general consensus is the LS6 valley cover. From what I hear, GMpartsdirect sells them for less than $80 with everything you need.
