Default New SSRA scoop design review

Guy's I have been testing out a new SSRA kit for the last couple of weeks and I must say that I really like it allot. I had been doing research on the kits for a while now and had always heard good things about the SSRA kit. To me the car feels faster throttle response and seems like my exhaust got a little louder. at around 60mph+ it starts to feel like it's starting to pull a little better.

here is a video and some pics of the kit.

As you can see from the pics and the video the bottom scoop keeps opening up more and more the faster you go.

so all in all im very happy to have gone with the SSRA kit, I have no experience with with the previous SSRA scoop or any other kits so I can't compare it. But if you're thinking of getting one I would highly recommend it.

lol sorry guys, the honks in the background. One honk equals 10 miles an hour, two honks equals 20 miles an hour, and so on. I got it up to 60. it was to show how it was opening up all the way up to 60mph

your not worried about it snapping off at higher speeds? hows the reinforcement to prevent this from happening?

nope. the only thing you will have to be careful with (depending on whether your car is lowered or not) is hitting steep driveways, speed bumps or when parking. I'm on strano's and have no clearance problems. as for the reinforcement that spring is pretty strong and the lower part of the SSRA is screwed onto the bumper.

Okay so my lower scoop cracked and broke yesterday. Saw it when I was walking away from my car. How do I buy just the lower scoop, I would prefer the new design, but the old is fine too. I'm assuming you know the guy that makes them and that you can get me in touch with him, thanks.

I'm 1.25" lowered. i think there's guys on here lowered with eibach's at like 1.50-2.00.

i think you will be ok just have to be cautious on speed bumps, steep driveways take them at an angle and you should be fine. Also be careful when parking, just stay a few feet back and you'll be fine.

I killed the lower of my SSRA years ago in a crappy little town in Southwest Missouri. Need to find a new lower.

I exceeded 100 miles an hour many times with the new scoop. The hinge is very strong.

why does the opening need to be smaller at low speeds? Why not just have it all the way open all the time instead of springing shut?....I'm just not liking it

My thoughts also.

I have the ram air intake by FastToys and it doesn't have that lower part with the spring. I would buy yours if I was NEVER worried about clearance, but that's just not possible. I definitley feel the pull with my FastToys set up. Yours looks awesome...but I say that thing is gonna bust before long.

When it's at it's highest point of opening, it seriously looks like it's 1 inch from the ground at most.

Looks cool, but I'm worried it won't last long :/

Update: guys just wanted to update this. the ssra kit is still going strong and have had no problems with it whatsoever. No scrapes, the spring is still holding strong.

I've gotten the car over 100 a few times also. just to see if the spring will come loose or start to give out and its still like it was from the first day i put it on.

Another thing like I had mentioned in my first post the temps have maintain low still. i know its still winter time but here in texas it feels like its already spring time.

just wanted to update this post/product incase anyone wanted to know how it was going with it.

Pretty neat idea but....

I keep imagining a squirrel crossing the road.

And NOT making it to the other side...
