Default Headers/ory, Stall, or Intake?

Okay so basically I have a grand to spend on my car.
Current mods are SLP Loudmouth catback and SLP Lid and K&N air filter.

LS6 possibly FAST 102mm intake.
Unsure of headers and y pipe so any recommendations?
Or 3000-3600 stall

What would you guys recommend?
Which mod will I get the most gain from?
Thank you

I'd go with a stall, 3600-4k. Later get a LS6 intake(or BBK), then headers.

Take a look at Circle D, and Yank.

+1.....with an auto, i'd get a stall and try to squeeze a set of gears into that budget as well

I'd get a stall, you'll be the happiest with that mod.

Stall, gears, headers, then the intake.

When I added my LS6 I could barely tell the difference.

If it were me I would go with a set of LT's and a mail order, then a stall. Just because I think it's best to have your car breathing like it's supposed to before anything else. However, I will say that you will definitely see more gains and feel more of a difference with a stall.

I'm going to say this. Prior to getting a full dyno tune, I was all about getting a mail order tune...this is no longer the case.

While my car was being tuned I was talking to the tuner and he found that the tables were off and while the computer was correcting for this, he said that the MAF is on it's way out and it would need retuned after a new one is installed. I asked about doing a mail order tune for it and he was quick to point out the downfalls of mail order tunes. The problem with them is that they are general and whoever programs the mail tune can't know and see everything going on with the car so the tune will never be as good as a dyno tune. We all know this, but it's worth mentioning.

I'm not sure what tuning runs up north, but Andrew charges $300 for the first tune at Complete Street Performance and then subsequent tunes are $150 for a full dyno/street tune, which is the same cost as a mail tune from Frost and $100 cheaper than a mail order from TSP. Obviously logistics can be an issue but I'm glad I opted for a full dyno rather than a mail tune.

Get the stall/headers. I did that with a frost tune and I love it.

Get a stall. No tune needed after. Yes there is a benefit with a tune, but not necessary. Single best mod for an auto car.

That my friend depends on the chosen converter...

If you go with the typical 3600 or higher you'll want a tune to guarantee the trans shifts when it is supposed to without bouncing off the limiter and potentially damaging things.

Get a handheld and adjust your shift points, if necessary. You can find the in the classifieds pretty cheap.

FWIW, I am not against full tunes, I just believe you wait til you really need one. For us budget guys, its a lot of cash to lay out just to have to do it again and again. And don't get a stall less than 3600, you will wish you went higher if you do.

With the $1000 budget I would do Stall and gears. 3.73's and 3600 stall. I have a Yank ss3600 and its the BOMBDIGGITY! Then I would do headers and Intake.

Look at PTC for a converter. They make good converters and they have a great price.

I called today and got quoted $450 for a new 4k converter for my car. The reason I'm gonna go with a 4k, is because of the cam I chose to go with in the near future.

Sweet!
Thanks for all the input.
Will probably lean towards the stall!
Now which brand?
I'm somewhat with Yank.
Also, how much would it cost a shop to install it? Just ballpark estimate?
Thank you!

Hmmmm.
Maybe LT's, ORY, and 3.73's?
I just worry about my loudmouth being really raspy after the headers and y pipe.
Any thoughts?

If you wanting the biggest gain per dollar spent the converter is going to be the way to go. Obviously exhaust, tune, and other beginning mods will help a decent amount as well but the converter is going to net you the biggest performance gain right off the bat. Converter and a tune would be my recommendation if your looking for the biggest gain out of the items you were considering.
