Customizing CAI Fbody
I would rather stand it up and notch out the frame. I have a custom top plate and custom brackets for top and bottom to hold the radiator. Been thinking about duplicating and selling as kit.
Here is a picture of the kit installed on a camaro. I ottoman brackets look like the top ones. I might revise it and make it longer in the back to cover everything better. I am thinking about building these if there is a want for them. The brackets fit the radiator just right and could be modified for bigger radiators.
This will be installed on my ws6 soon and should allow me to install a flat oval filter with straight tube. This creates a lot of room behind radiator, e ought I could stand in there. Would be great for turbo setup. I might create my own flat air box out of same material and seal off with hood to help with IATs at idle. Not sure yet, on the firebirds a filter shroud is probably not needed.

See I'm the opposite if I was going to do it I would rather tilt it back and run the pipe up front to take advantage of the high pressure zone.

You can still run pipe up front with standing radiator up. Just depends on how far forward you put it or you can pipe around it or even under but don't recommend under as much.

No Martin I was talking about one of the cars I was looking at @ GRC. I was picking up some crap I ordered and was checking it out. It was funny to me when I saw it because I was like hey..... that must be how all the cool kids do it (or atleast the fast ones 
). I asked him if he thought that worked better than a lid set-up, he said they gained a tenth from it. I started to text you a picture and tell you it was a bad turbo car I saw haha, since everyone always looked funny at me when they would ask how much power that crazy wheelie pulling turbo car made and I would tell them it was a nitrous car

Verdad Gallardo If you are meaning one of the kits I have, then no it's not that hard. Just a little frame cutting/notching, and piecing/bolting together. I don't have it in the build thread but can supply better up close pics of parts if needed and get a template for where and how much you should cut.
Looks good, nice work. I would hope you don't drive it in or get caught in the rain. I wonder what your IATs are right there with heat from the tires and whatever heat from the engine could reach it if any. Maybe it's not too bad. I would use a pre filter sock on that filter if it was me just to have added protection and less times you have to clean the filter form stuff your tire flips up.

I installed the inner fender since then so the heat from the tires wouldn't be as bad.
I also deleted the drivers side front corner cover so it can funnel as much air as it can.
This thing will never see rain and if it does it'll be engine off and snooze time lol
