Cool 4 inch singel pipe?

Has anyone thought about using a 4 inch single pipe?

From the Headers to a three inch pipe with original bends (no CAT) to where you could connect a 4 inch pipe and follow the body lines for the stock exhaust; come over or under the axle? In theory it would save your ground clearance, and flow about the same as a 3 in duals. I understand there is a lot to think about with the muffler, and the bends.

What are your thoughts? Has anyone seen this before? (except on a Diesel Truck)

Just be careful and make sure to put the heat shield back to protect the gas tank. The prior owner did something very similar and it melted a hole in the gas tank from when it would backfire!

Just out of curiosity why do you want to run a single 4 inch pipe?

It's just an Idea, I am not really sure I want to, but my friend has a car that is lowered. He had true duals 3' and they were tucked up tight and where we live he scraped them on the road at every bump. It just an Idea we are throwing around getting thought from other people.

Are you looking for your car to be extremely loud or something along those lines?

I can’t wrap my mind around how this happened. So the radiant heat coming off the pipe was strong enough to melt a hole in the fuel tank? If the pipe was the cause of the hole, where does the back firing come in to play? I'm so confused.

I'm running a 3" ory into a 3" to 4" FM merge, 4" I pipe with a dynomax bullet loudmouth style with a custom 4" over the axle into a 4" magnaflow bullet, with a 4" tail pipe tucked up under the bumper with dummy autozone tips. I'm just using the panhard bar relocation kit. I haven't driven my very much but I'm going to have to put the heat shields back because its very close to the tank. This is by far the most satisfied I've ever been with any system I've had on my car. And I've had alot including duals.

i thought of this once. but the place is really tight! now a 3.5" is very possible. but a 3.5" flowmaster merge + 3.5" cutout reduced to a normal 3" catback seems to be the best idea.

I've got a 3" y into 3.5" y back that I made. Over the axle and out the back to a single muffler.
