any one have a single bullet style muffler dumped behind the rear?
Iv been thinking about changing up my exhaust setup a little and swapping a bullet style muffler (magnaflow, XR-1, spiral flow, or even a FM10) and dumping it behind the rear sort of like a poor mans mufflex system so I can keep my current 3" tubing and have a single hidden tip. Any one have any pics or sound clips of this type of exhaust? Would changing to this have drone in the cab?

I have mine (SLP LM2) dumped right at the rear axle...... will see if I got any clips. Drone is minimal in cab and it has very little rasp.

I don't know if you can watch them but I just posted video's of my car and this is the exact exhaust setup that it has. It is in my thread redoing my 2002 z28 on the 4th page.
It was pacesetters headers, ory into a bullet muffler, then it dumped right over the rear. I liked how it sounded but I thinkin it will sound much better going all the way out the back of the car.

If your running stock manifolds and cats then a simple custom Y using the flowmaster merge and a Bullet 3" inner diameter muffler will work just fine. If you already have a catback exhaust then get headers! Much better bang for the buck.
Headers + cats + flowmaster merge & 3" bullet dumped = no rasp
Headers + no cats + merge & 3" bullet dumped = rasp (at this point it's better to go full catback or duals)

Ive had the Moroso Spiral-flo,it clearly felt like I lost power and it had a terrible drone below 2k.
The best sounding dumped exhaust I've had was with a Magnaflow #12867 (14" case length, 5" diameter). No drone in the cab at all it was still loud, but very liveable!

In that case your going to have rasp and drone. Been there, done that & spent a ton of money and several exhaust systems later to do what I should have done in the first place which was true dual exhaust. I would only do what your suggesting as a temp fix if I already had the parts until I could either have a true dual exhaust fabbed up or buy one from TSP or Bassani over the axle. But if you need the ground clearance then don't skimp and just go buy the mufflex 3 1/2" set up. Magnaflow for a more mellow sound and less drone or flowmaster for a nice deep rumble. Plus if you decide down the line for a different set up or the larger 4" set up you could sell it much more easily to help cover some of the costs of the new system than a home made set up from an exhaust shop (unless they fab up something nice using mandrel bends).

When I had the Magnaflow #12867 on my exhaust I also had the BBK header/ ORY pipe set up, along with H/C/I. I had NO drone, and very little rasp. The only reason I didn't stick with that set-up is because I wanted to go with a 3.5" exit Y-merger for better/smoother exhaust flow, and I did end up adding a Mufflex 3.5" cat-back to quiet it down even more.
I do agree that true duals is the best way to go as far as sound and performance, but it's not always the best choice for everyone, especially if a lose of ground clearance, or high cost isn't an option(custom stainless mandrel bent over-axle true dual, or the Kooks true-dual setup).
