Default Is my BBK now scrap...

Tore apart my motor to clean things up and to redo gaskets.. Found a lot of RTV gasket maker at rear of the motor.. Upon further inspection I see there is a piece of metal missing from the gasket support. Can this be fixed and be reliable?

I also noticed a bunch of oil in the intake.. is this from not using catch cans?

I have no idea what the previous owner tried to do. I'll see if I can find someone who is a little more competent to try to fix the problem.

That looks like a victor jr intake. If so, Edelbrock had a bad batch of them. I have several pictures posted of new ones that were cracked around that edge when shipped, new. Just use the paper gaskets and call it a day.

I wouldnt worry about it, looks like th missing metal is on the inside of the (clean air side) intake. I would put another gasket on that port, seal it with some RTV, let it dry and throw it back on.

Yes, Catch Can will fix the oily intake.

Yeah, definitely looks like a port job gone bad. I'm not sure there's enough of a lip there to keep the gasket from popping inside when you torque it down, not allowing it to seal. If you do get it welded up, you'll probably still need to do a little grinding to shape and smooth that port. I'd definitely get it fixed, though. I definitely wouldn't trust that to seal.

It's a BBK intake, sorry for the bad pictures. It is the port that bolts against the head. The last thing I want is metal from a bad weld job or some rtv to go down into the cylinder. Thanks for the help so far.
