Ls6 valley cover and intake doesn't fit
Im putting my motor together, using a ls6 valley cover, 4 port coolant crossover, and a ls6 intake. The problem I have is the intake won't sit all the way flush to the heads, what is it I have to do to?
I've shaved the ribs off the bottom of the intake already, and still the same issue. Does this combination even fit?

Did you clearance the block for the LS6 valley cover, and does it sit level and seal ok? That could definitely be your issue. That's what I'm thinking of since you've already shaved the bottom of the intake, so the coolant lines probably aren't the problem in this case.

the valley cover is bolted down and good. i think the steam crossovers are in the way of the intake manifold laying down perfectly flat, but how do i correct that?

for reference, this is exactly what i have going on. (no my picture though)
ive tried moving the lines around so they sit in the low spots, and the intake still doesnt naturally lay flat on the heads..

Have you tried taking a rubber mallet and hitting the lines just past the mounting points to force them to bend down? When I put my LS6 intake on it did not sit good either, until I lightly tapped the lines down at the mounting locations. After doing this, they layed flat on the valley cover without a gap.

Just ditch the ls1 lines and get the ls6 lines. Some people overthink not having all four flowing. GM did it on all c5 z06 vettes and I've seen those same cars reach upwards to 800rwhp without the back lines and they've been running fine for all these years. If you could find a way to bend the lines to make it fit I'd do it but I'd escape the headache and just buy the ls6 lines. I put the ls6 lines on my 99 Vette when I put a 2004 valley cover and FAST 78 on and I've got 15,000 miles + without any issues so far. If you wanted to you could put the ls6 lines on front and rear and connect them via a hose like some people have done on this forum too.

You guys are over-complicating things... With the fins shaved on the bottom of the ls6 intake it fits perfectly fine with the LS1 crossover tubes.
Of course with the foam pads underneath it won't appear to fit right. Put the bolts in and torque it down accordingly. Once the pads are compressed it seals up perfectly. No hammering the lines flat or any of that craziness.
No point in wasting money on LS6 lines when you already have everything to complete the install.

Also I would run the knock sensor wire over the coolant tube and put a small dimple in the top of the tube where the wire crosses over it. As you have it now, if you ever have to change the knock sensors and harness while in the car, youll have to remove those tubes and spill coolant all over. That and that wire is not letting the tube sit as low as it can.
Unless the LS6 valley cover is physically thicker than the LS1 one, then theres no reason it shouldnt work.
