Default Okay so here’s what you need to do to make your v8 Camaro sound like a mustang!

Okay here’s what you need to do to to make your z28 sound like a Mustang! I did this on my 02 Trans Am. You need an off road Prochamber and duel 40 series Flowmaster mufflers. Obviously MAC doesn’t make the Prochamber for Camaros so fabrication is required. Remember no cats and try to get the mufflers to fit before the rear axle. All this affects sound. Yes ground clearance will be rough, but you will get as close to the mustang sound as possible. I was really pleased with my setup!!

True duals no x or no h pipe. Two chamber flowmasters dumped. And a rowdy cam.

Easy answer, and best one so far. Why make a Chevy sound like a Ford??

Well, the old pushrod iron block 5.0 really had a sweet sound to it.

I had two stainless works bullets dumped at axle, one at each header. No x or H pipe.
Sounded close but not exact for reasons already said.

Best sounding factory exhaust I ever owned was a 69 Mustang Cobra Jet. A 69 Vette with factory side pipes and a 70 Vette with OK Custom side pipes just didn't compare.

I would bet the Mustang had an H-pipe. It evens the pulses for a fuller sound. Neither Vette had that, plus with sidepipes you usually only hear one side which sounds uneven and rough.

Yes it did. It had an H pipe rather than an X pipe. Dual pipes running back to a single cross flow muffler mounted crosswise behind the axle. The sound was more of a low pitched growl. I loved that sound. Ford engineers did their homework on that one.

X-pipes are a newer development, and I understand a better "mixer" of pulses/sounds, with more of a rasp, more like a true 8 into 1 exhaust. Not exact, but closer.
But yeah, those early big block mustangs had a sound that was hard to beat!
