Default Muffler Suggestions!

So I have had the same exhaust for about 2 years and I like the volume of it but not necessarily the tone. I heard it the other day and really was not impressed with the tone, it was really loud though!

I had a flowmaster 30 on it in place of the magnaflow, but I didnt care for the volume of it. I took it off and went back to the magnaflow.

My exhaust is the 3.5" mufflex single tip with the Magnaflow race muffler.

I am only looking to replace the muffler, not the whole catback.

I just updated my post. I have the magnaflow muffler already, looking for a change. Something that will fit in place of my magnaflow with little modification.

I had a dynomax muffler on one of my lt1 cars and got tons of compliments with it. It was the dynomax off the ypipe dumped, but it was fairly loud.

Just swapping muffs and easiest would be Dynomax Bullets. You should be able to find a darn close if not exact oa length. Sounds real good to me

IMO, try a FM Delta Force 40 it'll be louder that the FM 30, but not really loud like the FM10.
I'd look at either the 853540-10 (13" case length), or the 8435408 (9" case length).

I wouldn't bother with the Borla, it's going to sound to much like the Magnaflow.
You could try a Hooker Aero Chamber #21507HKR, but I think it's going to be quieter than you want.

Does anyone have any sound clips of a car with cam and a flowmaster 10 or 40? The only ones I found were ones with duals or a catback without a cam.

I was also thinking of going with an electric cutout. I had one before but sold it as it wasnt installed correctly and hung too low. I did like the sound though and the ability to be quite when need be.

01redss, thanks for the videos. I love the sound. But from what I remember about 10 years ago on my old car, when I had a loud mouth one, loud sometimes is a pain in the butt in the morning and late at night. Is the flowmaster really loud? Its hard to tell in the videos.

Im kinda leaning towards a cutout, I really liked the sound of it and the fact that you can make it quiet when you want.

Anyone got any videos of a flowmaster 40 or 10 with a cam outside car driving and idling?

There's a lot more mufflers out there than the ones who advertise in your magazine section at Walmart.

I'm running duals with an x-pipe, and I just ordered some Classic Chambered Powerstick mufflers to replace my dual SLP LoudMouth II mufflers (which sound great, but I'm wanting a higher pitch tone). Check this video out, not my car just a video I found that convinced me to get them:

I pretty much have the same set up as you, I have a mufflex style single tip setup. I had a 4x9x14 magnaflow and just changed it out for a flowmaster original 40 series. Im still on the fence how i like it, the 40 series sounds pretty good at idle, typical flowmaster very hollow and really lets you hear the cam but it gets very raspy with any amount of throttle. On the other hand the magnaflow was near stock quiet at idle but had an amazing tone at WOT.

I will try to get you a video clip of the flowmaster so you can hear it. I think i will be changing it again i may just bite the bullet and go true duals and be done with it.
