Default Will I need a different intake to make 450hp

Hey everyone, here in the near future I'm planning on installing my cam once I acquire heads and supporting mods. I'm gonna run a Torquer V3, a set of P&P 243 heads and obviously all the parts to run these parts. I've got 1 7/8" LT already and 3" exhaust. I'm wondering if my stock TB and LS6 intake will move enough air to get me to 450 rwhp? If not my next investment will be a 102 Fast intake/tb.

With your setup it sounds like you could definitely gain from going to a PORTED 92 or 102. By how much? Idk, every car varies with these intake.

Should make 450whp with what you have, everything will have to be dialed in though...ie tune etc.

What about a porting an ls6 intake? And I'm working on getting my car running like a top before I do all of this so it'll be a max potential

For the sake of comparison (and I realize there's some variance with dyno numbers), however my setup put down 440/408 with PRC heads, 228/232 cam, ported FAST 92 and full bolt ons. M6 car on a dynojet.

I wouldn't expect you to see 450 rhwp with that combination (however it wouldn't be the first time I was surprised with these cars).

Depends on how good the "P&P 243 heads" are, and how good the tune is to go with it, very possible just can't leave anything on the table.

Well I'm probably just gonna get as close as i can to 450 with that. I'd be happy with 435ish. And Im going to keep the heads as cheap as i can. So that may hold me back a little. Is the work/cost worth trying to port an ls6 intake?

There are very very little gains to be had porting an ls6 intake. I know on the dynos around here 450rwhp would be a tall order for a h/c car with an ls6 intake.

From what I've been reading once I hit 450-500 that's about all these motors will make stock displacement w/o spray or boost. So once I get a new intake on there my considerable hp gains will be done.

I have seen cars make 420 rwhp with a big cam, stock 243s, Longtubes, Lid, No Cats and an LS6 intake. I think there is a decent chance of hitting your goal.

What would you consider good heads on the cheaper end?

Ya there was also someone who hit 470rwhp with prc 5.3's and a 230/228 cam and a ls6 intake. Happy dynos maybe?

I would say very happy dynos! Not discrediting anyone's car but I'm sure they could go to the next dyno and only make 420 or 430. The more I read on here the more I'm leaning towards just getting a Fast and not even mess with the LS6. Looks like a lot of people run a ported fast 90 over the 102.

You can get 450-460rwhp from a stock headed stock intake LS6. Brian Tooley does it with no problem. If I had to do it all over again that's the route I would have went with.

I've got that same setup and keeping the LS6 intake will cost you about 20rwhp. So it's going to really depend on the dyno.
