I never read it that way at all. It looks as low as mine, which is lowered on stock bolts. C6 bolts can get you lower in the front, but the rear takes longer bolts to lower more than you have it today (if desired). Of course coil overs will get you whatever ride height you want!

I agree 100% with you about kids making me soft. Before kids, I felt like nothing scared me, because I was living just for me, and if it was my time, it was my time. Now though, I would hate to leave behind two small children, so I second guess things I do. Like changing the light over my driveway. It's at the peak of my roof, which is some 38 feet in the air. When I installed it, pre-kids, I simply hung over the side of the peak and installed it. A few weeks ago, I pulled out the 40' ladder, put it against the house, got 2/3 of the way up, and decided, nope, not gonna do it.

Out to start again today.

All that's left is removing the manifolds themselves, then unbolting various suspension pieces, dropping the motor a bit, wiggling, cussing, and reinstallation.

Poop-tastic.

I actually have everything back together on my car. I just can't start it yet. Gotta wait until tomorrow when it's daylight since it's open headers currently.

Mwahahaha.

I sooooo need to upgrade my headers. I'm currently running original QTP's (non high velocity collector) with 1 3/4 primaries, and at my current power level they are choking the motor big time. If I had a glimmer of hope from Phadt that they would make a Tri-Y for the fbodies, with 1 7/8 primaries, I'd wait, and get them.

So Phadt, if you are reading this... please, please, please make a 1 7/8" Tri-Y for f-bodies.

^^^ Agree. There is a market for them and I'd venture to bet they would sell better than the Vette headers.

Well works at a standstill. All the stock crap is off. It's now time to drop the subframe and play the "wiggle the motor this way and that" to install the headers, and I have no key for the Gorilla Lug Nuts. I can get them off with a 6pt 17mm, but the lug gets wedged and I have to tighten it back up to free it, so it's back to square one. I don't see another way to remove the 4 bolts holding the upper control arm and the bolts holding the lower shock towers on unless I take the tires off

Took a few hours, but I got all the old lug nuts off. Cost me a 17mm socket and an impact 17mm.

Upper control arms are undone, and the bolts holding the bottom of the front shocks are removed.

After reading the directions a bit more, I have to somehow keep the engine in place, and possibly raise it. All while removing the (4) 21mm nuts that hold the subframe to the frame and lower the entire thing.

As I'm on jack stands, and needing the floor jack to hold the motor in place, I'll need another floor jack to lower the subframe, which I don't have.

Hopefully a friend can swing by tomorrow and lend a hand in that department...

Here's where we are now

How time consuming would you say the header install is in your C5 versus an f-body? I have a good buddy gearing up to install longtubes on his 04 C5Z, and he asked that I lend a hand. Any tips?

I still can't get over how beautiful those headers are. Literally makes me want to buy a car that Phadt manufactures parts for.

Personally I would prefer header install on a c5 over an fbody. You can easily access all the bolts and plugs, you may have to unbolt motor mounts for some headers and raise one or both sides(takes all of 2 minutes)

Unless you're installing Phadt's. It's required to completely unbolt the motor mounts (the bottom 2 nuts) and then drop the entire cradle.

Funny thing about them is the damn near slide in from the top. It's ridiculously close, but far enough to know you can't.

Maybe get an engine hoist, lift the engine a touch, then drop the cradle.
At least that's how it's done when removing the engine from the top.
I've done it. I have a C5

Ive installed many c5 headers and you absolutely do not have to drop the cradle for any of them.....besides possibly the b&b which are terrible and you never know what's going to hit lol!

Sounds like the Phadt aren't quite that easy.
My XS Power went right on. Just needed the car up 21".
