Dorman Balancer slides right onto snout...
I purchased a Dorman balancer (594-209) for my 2003 silverado. I am installing an ls6 long block into my truck, so i need the truck balancer. Anyway, I've read all the threads about needing a special install tool to install the "balancer" (pulley). I went to mock it up to see why i need a tool, and Well this Dorman product just slid right onto the crank snout. Im guessing its a total piece of ****.
Or should i be worried about the crank snout being worn?
Id imagine since there is no keyway, that the fit needs to be extremely tight, so it wont spin on the crank. Ill be returning this to summit.
Any suggestions for a good truck pulley? I dont need an sfi balancer, just an inexpensive pulley.

it shouldn't slide on, i just put a dorman one on my camaro and i needed to press it on with a piece of threaded rod.
if it slides on you either have a worn snout or defective balancer.
the bolt and press friction keeps it from spinning.

While the pulley groove locations are different, the crank snout diameter is the same for the various LS engines. Do you have another balancer laying around? If yes, you can test fit it. If it also slides on without the interference fit, the crank is bad. If it needs to be pressed on, the Dorman balancer is bad.
