Changed date to 18th. seems like supply couldn't match demand.

I have seen a couple people ask about the 5.3, and I too was wondering what you'd have to do to make this work on it. I've got the truck intake yet, but i'm pretty sure its not going to fit under a 1981 firebird hood. Thanks

Using fbody or vette accessories you wouldnt need to do anything save for the ls6 coolant crossover kit.
For truck accy youd need an idler pulley adapter and prob nnbs water pump.

Picked up mine from RA for $293 delivered w/5% discount.

Since I have a 98 Camaro SS, will need to think about a couple updates/changes while the intake gets swapped from the stock LS1;
LS6 Valley Tray, worthwhile?
New Knock Sensors; Hear the 98's were very sensitive...
Not sure about the EGR block-off; WS6 Store looks to have a great block of plate!
Sounds like the LS6 Coolant crossover is another need to do...

Am I missing anything?

See the ports are less than smooth, and leaving as is would add some turbulence flowing from the intake port into the head, so some blending is in order. Does anyone have a template, or basic guidelines to follow - don't want to blend too deep and wreck the manifolds internal port passages!

Thanks!
Mike

Ls6 valley is your call. Yes 99+ knock sensors and harness are good upgrade.
Youll need to drill out back map port and drill and tap the pass side rear area where screw is for as vacuum line. Then our cap for the front map sensor port.
Just shape the runners how you want its hard to mess up but you need some good bits for it. And we always epoxy the rough tb area also. You wont fit a 92mm tb without porting the opening either.

When did you buy your intake, you bought the LS2D 615-901 correct , not the LS6 Dorman . Rockauto has not listed the 615-901 for weeks . But the LS6 has not be interrupted and is still for sale through them.

Sept. 25... Yes, its the LS2D (615-901) Yeah, I think supply has been wiped. It'll be another few weeks or so. The last time it took about 1-1/2 to 2-months for them to be relisted, then the price was jacked up! I ended up waiting another month or so before prices fall back to the $300 range, (was at $378 for a week or two). Patience pays off, and if you can't wait, Tech@WS6Store (Seller On Here) and others will likely have some left in stock.

I've been typing in that part number over the last few days on RA and it keeps bringing up an acdelco intake that is over $800.

Well you definitely sagged it at the right time and Price. Strange thing is I looked several times in September and it wasn't listed.and if look back at preceding page it will reflect the same thing. As far the price swing never saw it that high of $378 . The range I have observed was from $343 to about $317 those where without a discount.

Default Looks like Rock Auto maybe no longer selling Dorman intakes

Here what's going on with Rockauto and the LS2D . Dorman wanted to impose a standard price point that these would be sold at and RA has refused and is standing up against the price fix . It was in there July newsletter ............

Funny how they put their own twist on MAP pricing. Its not price fixing, it allows for equal competition. So many many companies have MAP and then so many fly under the radar selling below map and whoring parts out that it kills sales fo other people. Rock Auto got caught it seems and is salty for it.

Thanks for posting that I was wondering what your view on this would be.Its going be interesting to see who holds there ground on this and who blinks first. I think Dorman would not want to lose them as a vendor for thier complete line. Rockauto was the 4th biggest online seller of auto parts. Only Autozone , Napa and one other true online seller were bigger. I see the online sales still gaining market share every year. It may come a day that the biggest sellers will dictate to vendor what the price will be

MAP pricing probably explains why AutoZone, Napa & O'Reilly all quoted me $445 over phone when the LS2D was first released. I picked one up from RockAuto for $316 plus shipping.

My preference for ordering parts online is NAPA but I couldn't resist saving $130. I would image RA will catch grief from other vendors too for RA's under cutting on MAP price.
