Default Bolt on catalytic converters

So my catalytic converters have gone bad and it's to the point where my engine is starting to feel sluggish. I don't have $1,000+ to have a shop put new ones on. I could do it myself if I had bolt ons that were truly bolt ons. So my question is, has anyone used these before? ifso how well did they fit?

ok those are bolt ons, should take 15-20 min a piece..

If you have a jack and socket set you should be able to handle it, fairly straight forward..

Get the car up to operating temp, jack the front of the car up and while the engine is hot un bolt the cats to the exhaust manifolds..

I like to do it while it's hot since those bolts are usually rusted and can break when removing.. When they are hot they should break loose easily..

After you break the bolts loose a few turns, take a 30 min break and then come back when everything is cool..

My only worry is that with them being aftermarket that they won't fit properly. Also are they poor quality compared to the OEM converters? Do aftermarkets really flow any better?

High-flow cats flow better than stock and metal is better than ceramic. Most of the time you can clean cats by soaking them in a degreaser for a day if the ceramic is not broken (that's why metal is better). Walmart sells Purple Power cheap and it works great if you're looking to save money. MagnaFlow makes an excellent product and those should bolt right up. Have some PB Blaster ready and anti-seize for installing the O2 sensors.

On my car I bit the bullet and did Magnaflow's. Magnaflow are about $100 more but are the best, fit perfectly and they sell them in high flow.

I had to put a replacement Magnaflow converter on my 98 Firebird. I got it at Advanced Auto and the muffler shop had it bolted on in 15 minutes. No rattles and no check engine light.

I have both the driver and passenger side cats on order along with both the rear O2 sensors. They should be arriving today or tomorrow. Good to know they are fitting well for you guys. That was my main concern.
