Default Dual exhaust

I have a '01 SS Camaro that i'd like to change the exhaust on. Currently stock, i'm thinking 1 7/8 headers with a custom dual exhaust. Bullet type mufflers that dump before the axles seem a bit loud to me, im wondering to save a bit of money if i could swap them with some flowmaster 10 series mufflers in the same location if that would be a touch quieter. I want it to sound loud and mean at idle and when I get on it, but not be a total cop magnet. Also wondering the difference in sound if I ran it out all the way compared to dumping it? Thanks

So you're wondering if a FM 10 series muffler will be quieter than a straight through race type bullet muffler?

Ya pretty much. It seems like bullet types are practically straight pipes and loud, which would be a problem if its dumped underneath the cabin lol. Just trying to avoid drone and alot of problems without cats too. I also dont want idle to be too quiet, i changed the mufflers on my Mustang and its dead quiet unless you get on it, i dont want to make that same mistake with the Camaro

Just so you know the FM 10 will be just as loud as most Bullet mufflers more or less

It's a fine line between too loud and too quiet. Most i've listened to seem fine when your on the gas no matter what setup, it's the idle sound that im finding tricky to pin down

Generally speaking I've found a chambered muffler to have a more rugged type sound at idle over a bullet style muffler.

Any issues with drone with one compared to the other?

Well again these are generalizations but most chambered type mufflers tend to resonate a bit worse than straight through style ones

Ive ran both setups OP..

I loved the sound of duals dumped with bullet mufflers. My recent setup was 1 chamber flowmasters.

I liked them both. Both will be very loud. But it will sound amazing. I loved the sound of the bullet mufflers. Sounded very mean.

The 1 chambers were unique. The sound was distinct.

Get Moroso Spiral flow bullets. They are specifically designed to be quieter bullets.

I have them on my true duals and they are not loud. They are definitely not quiet, but they are typical volume of any muscle car with aftermarket exhaust that you hear driving by.
Idle is a deep, beefy rumble that doesn't shake the ground by any means, but is not at all stock sounding.

This is how it sits now. Not so bad. Still loud.

If you aren't absolutely wanting dumped mufflers, which will be definitely louder than ones out the back...look into hooker black heart true duals. They are definitely on mild side.

Then there's two other options.
Speed engineering - They aren't build for lowered cars but speed engineering has promised to make ones for lowered cars.

Then there's kooks duals.

If you still want dumped duals, maybe try to stuff magnaflow
