Default How to get rid of the infamous rasp?

You know, that rasp that occurs between 2k and 3k RPMs? How do I get rid of it?

My car has a nearly stock LS1 with American Racing longtubes, American Racing ORY, and Borla adjustable exhaust. Bought the car with the exhaust on it and it came with no adjustment plates so it goes straight out the unmuffled side.

I have options to either buy a set of 4 plates and test them out, or I also read that the QTP cutout for Borla exhaust might help as well.

I like the way the exhaust sounds otherwise, it's just the rasp that can get to me. Thanks for any advice.

Its a true 2-to-1 merge, not just one pipe welded to the side of another...

Ok that merge should be pretty decent then. Trying the plates should help, but to what extent is hard to say. Adding high flow cats or a resonator would be a option as well

Install a couple quality low cell count metallic cats. Magnaflow makes 200 cell spun metallic cats that don't cut much flow or volume from the exhaust but does smooth it out.

I put a Powerstick muffler in my "I" pipe and it took out 90%of the rasp. Then I removed my straight tips and put on turndowns and twisted the tailpipes up so you cant see them. Quieted it down a lot too. Now only rasp I hear is on light throttle and only when it shifts 1-2.
