Scratch built engine harness alternator wiring. Hey guys can someone please help me with a alternator wiring issue. Got a 01 5.3 put a microsquirt and my own built harness everything is runnin fine besides I cant get alternator to charge. Its a 01 145amp truck alternator. Witch plugs do I need to give power to, to get the alternator to charge? Its the four plug connector. I did some searching but couldnt find anything! any help would be appreciated

Ok well heres the deal I did that 12v with 470 ohm resistor to pin B and it doesnt charge and thats a Brand new alternator. Can you ruin the alternator by supplying power to the wrong pin? because I tried b and c.
Take it by Autozone or Advance and have it checked (free).

Ok guys so I took my alternator to o reilys and got it tested its chargin fine there. I cant get it to charge tho! tested my wire with 470ohm resistor its good got 12vs there. Is there a chance my alternator isnt getting a good ground? Or a chance iv got a differnt alternator that needs more than just one wire going to pin B?

Yes i know i dont have the main charge wire hooked up iv just been testing the stud with a tester shuldnt it read voltage on the stud? I just havnt hooked up a wire yet because i havnt got it to charge.

OH man thanks so much! I didnt know that the alt needed to see a load...? I just tried that and its Charging!! This is my first build and my first swap so its been a Awesome learning experience! My next question is.... Is know theres 15volts at the stud with it running and 12v with it off. Im wondering if 15v isnt too high? That wont cook my battery or wire? Do I need a regulator? Thanks so much fro helping me out!
