I finally pulled the trigger on mines to try and quiet it down a bit more forced then by choice thanks to California. But oh well lol

Original set up is loud as hell and the drone gets annoying after a while but no complaints i did love the sound.

Put a magnaflow #12469 before the axle. Had to modify it a little bit and bang under passenger seat a bit but it fit. Left the resonators in their stock location.

Major difference in sound video doesn't capture it that well. Zero drone now. Sound is deeper and more defined IMO. But it still gets loud on a rev.

Now it's definitely not quiet you can tell it's modified but I would say volume wise is about 50 percent less.

The tips act like a big bell. You remove them and it gets quieter. I changed mine and shoved some spirals up in the muffler. It's very quiet now with zero drone. The spirals can also be removed very easily or one could adjust the length to their liking.

Speedway....they're not very expensive. You'll have to grind them a little to fit them in there but nothing major.

Do those spirals need to be welded in?

I would at least throw a couple small tack welds onto it.

I didn't weld mine in. They can't fall out with the tips on.

The comment about the tips making it louder. This is true. I'm embarrassed to say this buuut...... I put a 40 series flowmaster on a 1.8 auto 1987 Jetta when I was in high school. It was 90hp from the factory so 180,000 miles later with that amazing performance addition I was probably pushing 70hp. It sounded - interesting. I just cut the factory one out and grafted it to my stock exhaust. But then, in order to be cool, I bought a giant fartcan tip for it and it got noticeably louder. So I got edumacated on that back in 97.

When the fuel pump died I sold it and bought a shiny red 86 transam with a 350 and mild cam. Basically a super car for a high school kid. And I also put a flowmaster on that. Sounded almost as good as the VW.

Tips can drastically change tones and resonance. Even small changes in length alone can have a dramatic effect on sound. I've played around with stuff like that some.

Yeah, I put an oval street rod tip on my GF's stock Subaru Impreza around like 00 or 01. Just clamped it to the factory muffler. And you could hear the difference easily. Still sounded like **** but it gave a a note to listen to while playing around and looked nice. It wasnt a huge ricer thing.

On another note I also went down on her in that car. I dont think my fat *** could do that today. But if she's around and wants me to try I'm game. TMI?

If I may ask, what tips did you end up using?

^^^^No ****, really? Even if used "for offroad only"? I've put plenty of "off-road" parts on my cars over the years.
