Default FAST install question

Should there be this much of a gap between front of the intake and the heads?

Valley cover bolts is what's the problem. I need flathead bolts.

You mentioned removing the dowels in another fast fitment thread... I've never done that and had success just patiently wiggling it around with all the bolts loose. So, were they meant to be removed on install? If so, why are they there? Honestly just curious, seems like they could save a couple bucks leaving them out unless they're used in the manufacturing process and just easier to leave in...

My fast 90 whent right down with the dowels in place. I could tell one on the driver side rear hung up for a split second, it made an audible tick when it moved into position. I could see it going the other way also with the dowel not moving into its home.

Not supposed to have the gap. Need to swap out the valley cover bolts.

TSP has them I think... or just go to FASTENAL and get some stainless button head M8x1.25x30mm (I think) bolts.

Local store has them, so I'll pick them up and finish it up over the weekend. I had hoped to knock it all out yesterday, but I knew something wasn't right when the bolt holes were lined up and there was still that much of a gap.

Another question. The stock TB has two vent tubes coming off of it that hoses connected to. The new TB does not have those two vent tubes to attach the hoses. Do I need those hoses? What are they for?

Pretty sure that's EGR and coolant tubes.

So the EGR can be deleted, but what about the coolant tube? As far as I can tell, none of the aftermarket TB's come with the tubes to connect these lines.

When looking at the stock TB from the front of the car, there should be 2 tubes on the left and 1 on the right. The ones on the left are vital as they are part of your PCV system. The one on right of the TB is coolant and can be bypassed safely.

This^

Yeah there's a couple write ups from way back when that show you how to do it, I never did it on my SS. It's pretty cheap too as well from what I remember, it used to be huge in like 2004-2006 on here.

I asked FAST about this last year because my 102 had them and I never saw them mentioned anywhere. They said if my intake had them that I could remove them. Never explained anything to me other than they weren't required to be left in. My guess is that they help with alignment on some factory head.

So this article explains how to take care of the coolant lines.

The TB I ordered does not have the vent tube. Is that the third line you are talking about coming off the left side of the TB?

After some research, it looks like I can run a filter on the vent tube port coming off the passenger side valve cover. Anyone know where I can get one that's a direct fit?

Anyone got a picture of their catch-can routing for a TB without the vent tube? I believe I can run the hose from the passenger side valve cover to a catch can instead of just putting a filter on it.

I have an LS6 PCV with catch can? Old pic I have from when I installed it.

I just bypassed the steam vent port. I went to the auto parts store, got some 1/4" I think hose and ran it from the radiator to the steam port.

You're going to have to run the vent tube after the MAF. I ran into this problem on my C5Z when I went to the NW 102 DBW. I had to cut a hole on the TB coupler and add a AN fitting for the vent hose. At first I had it blocked off and put a breather on the passenger side valve cover. That was WRONG!
