I'm thinking there will be connector differences, wire colors, wire count, etc. Use the 5.3 harness on the 5.3 engine.

Use the 5.3 long block and all the 5.7 intake, ignition, accessories, etc.
You might need to tune it.

Not gonna work the way you think. Not even remotely. What you’re gonna do is simply swap the long block and reuse every single part from the car. And I mean everything right down to the crank pulley. You will not be using anything from the truck, especially not the PCM (computer).

If you want to send out your camaro PCM to get reflashed with some better air/fuel/ignition tables that are more suited to the 5.3, you could do that, but if you plan on putting the 5.7 back in there, I wouldn’t waste the time or money.

I went through this same swap on a 2000 Z28. Yes you should use the stock 5.7 harness and the stock 5.7 computer (should change the tune to reflect 5.3L).

But as others have said, you will just be using the 5.3 long block. You will need to swap over the following from your 5.7:
Complete Intake
Coil packs (unless you want to make spacers to move the 5.3 driver side coil packs to clear the fuel line)
Front accessories including the water pump and crank pulley. To mount the alternator, you will need to drill and tap one boss on the block.
And don't forget the LS1 oil pan, windage tray, and oil pickup.

Think I had to change the Oil Pressure Sending Unit too, but the rest of the 5.3 sensors were fine iirc.

AFAIK red & blue is drive by cable; green & blue is drive by wire.

Since you'll be using your LS1 intake and whatnot on the LM7, you'll need to stick with the red & blue.

Use your stock LS1 5.7 harness (blue and red) and the stock LS1 5.7 computer as previously stated.

Both came both ways. The vast majority of red/blue were cable, and the vast majority of blue/green were wire, but you cannot generalize them like that.

And you cannot simply swap them, lots of things are different. lt1swap.com will tell you what needs to be changed.

Think of it this way. He is simply swapping one bare longblock for another. Everything else remains the same as it sits on his 99Z. All he has to do is drill and tap the hole for the alternator bolt and substitute the different displacement in the tune and he is good to go.

Of course there are things he can play with and modify if he wishes (PCV routing, etc.)

If the connections are all the same, yes.
