Default Ls1 Throttle body

I’m doing an ls swap into my 79 camaro and I’m looking for a throttle body. When I look online it says the 5.7 ls1 is 75mm. When I look for a throttle body to buy the only ones I can find are 92mm and 102mm but correct me if I’m wrong but those won’t work will they? It’s not an insane built as of right now so I’m running the stock 5.7 intake. What TB should I run or what’s the biggest one that will work? I was looking at a Fitech 92mm on summit that’s $172 but I’m not sure if that will work or not.

Hey. The stock intake opening is either 75mm or 78mm and the stock TB is 75mm. It will do you no good to upgrade the TB unless you change the intake.

Right I know its 75mm but i cant find a 75mm on any sites all I see is a 92mm or 102mm so my question is will it work? I know that if you have a 92mm on a 75 its not going to make a difference but if thats all I can find then thats what ill run lol

Running a 92 or 102mm TB on a 75mm intake will get you nothing.

I would check with junkyards or maybe see if places like Rock Auto sell stock throttle bodies. This way you don't run into tuning issues because of cheap china assemblies.

Go to a junkyard and look at the Silverados and maybe Tahoes from '00 to '02 as they have a drive by cable throttle body that will work. I got one from a junkyard and it works on my Camaro; however I ported it and I didn't know how to adjust the tune for a ported throttle body so I stay with the original one.

Both LS1 and truck TB's are 78mm. Just FYI...

Some good advice here. Might I suggest going with the large TB, with adapter - this will future proof your implementation.

Having a TB larger than the manifold inlet improves nothing. The manifold inlet is the choke point

By future proof your implementation, I imply when and if that you decide to upgrade intake, you will already own the required TB, don't have to by it again.

A TB larger than the manifold inlet is difficult to tune, due to hitting max flow capacity before hitting full throttle.
Why do you sound like a lawyer, or is English your second language?

Not very sure how true.

"Proof your implementation" is an awkward, not normally used word set. Hence my comment.
Any dyno test will prove my point about using a TB larger than the manifold inlet. It sounds like you are speaking from your imagination rather than actual proof.

Oh ok.

Sounds like you're not Scientific, at all.

Scientific or plain language, the same thing can be said. Very few here are scientists, but many are great mechanics who know what they are speaking of, whether in scientific language or not. Your use of "scientific" wordsmithing, whether done to impress or just how you communicate, says the same things that can be said in said in plainer language so that all may understand what is said
So I don't SPEAK scientifically, but I thoroughly know the science behind everything about engines, and can explain it in everyday terms that anyone can understand

There's no time for childish semantic.

I'll talk to a real tuner about this, thank you very much.

Oh there's ALWAYS time for childish semantics when it involves an elitist attitude like yours.
I've seen enough dyno tests to verify what I've said.
You are truly a legend in your own mind....

There's nothing to see on a dyno graph in regards to turbulent airflow, no idea what you're talking about.
