Default LS6 Intake Years (DBW/DBC)?

I have a LQ9 i am wanting to run a LS6 intake after i change my accessories to clear a car intake. I have a few questions.
From my google research, it looks like all LS6 intakes are supposed to be cathedral port. Why do they all look rectangular? I have seen many threads asking this question, but a reply stating it "just works", but the ports look nothing like the ports on a truck intake.

I want to do Drive By Cable (DBC). Do i need to get a certain year for DBC or can i get an intake with DBW and just swap out the throttle body with a DBC throttle body?

Thanks,
LQ9bu

The manifold port is rectangular, but the injector is right above it. IF the head port matched the manifold port, the injector would be blocked. THAT is why the heads are called "cathedral port". To allow the injector to function.
The manifold itself will accommodate both DBC & DBW. It's the TB that handles the difference between them.
The Corvette and Camaro(later) both used the LS6 manifold, but the Camaro was DBC and the Vette DBW. Same manifold.

G Atsma - thank you for the information and explanation. Just trying to understand though....why does the truck manifold port look cathedral and matches the head port?

I'd have to look at one, but likely having to do with different flow characteristics. It's a difference that is immaterial to anything we do with them.
Just keep cathedral manifolds with cathedral heads, and rectangular with rectangular.

See pictures. Truck intake ports are orange and cathedral, and LS6 intake are rectangular and blue. All LS6 intakes say they are cathedral but look rectangular.

Stock truck intake

LS6 intake

shakenfake- Truck and car manifold gasket surfaces are just made differently. They function identically.

Correct. I just didn’t know if he was actually looking at an LS6. Man might’ve pulled up the wrong intake lol

I think what's throwing you off, is the LS6 intakes have a straight flange, which allows them to use a symmetrical rectangular gasket. The truck intake rounds the flange off around the injector port, so the gasket is uni-directional.

If you were to see them in person, you'd see the ports themselves are basically the same.
