2000 fbody braided ground straps?

Default 2000 fbody braided ground straps?

Hello,

Could someone advise where all the braided ground straps are located. I found the one behind the alternator which touched my header and broke cause my aem 30-0300 wb to throw my fuel trims super lean. I replaced and the car starting getting back to normal but started going super lean again. Car has new battery, starter, and battery negative wire that goes to the alternator and starter. Voltage normal for battery. All the Insulated grounds look good and what I have read there are other braided in insulated ground straps but I can’t get any info explaining where they are. Any info would be great.

There is only one (braided strap), as I recall, but not absolutely certain.
Also, the heavy wires from the alternator and starter go to battery +, not -.

sorry about the confusion. Yes I have the new heavy positive cable wires connecting to new starter, and alternator and the driver frame up to the fuse box. I was. Told there are a few ground braided straps for 98-02 ls1 fbodys and it’s definitely an grounding issue it seems unless you have any other ideas?

There is nothing magic about a braided ground strap. You can run a big heave cable from the block to the chassis also.

I have the braided strap on the passenger side and a heavy ground cable on the passenger side that I return to a chassis ground that is also a chassis ground for the battery.

If you are chasing grounds already, verify the harness grounds on the back of the heads

My wb fuel trims went super rich after I discovered the ground strap behind the alternator broke from touching the headers. I assume something else broke or went out also after as I replaced it and the car was still rich. I checked all in regular ground straps and they all look fine and not dirty or broken. Insulated ground straps behind door look fine as well behind the head. Your passenger braided strap was put there and you made a bridge yourself? If so where did you connect on the that braided ground strap on the passenger engine side? Wondering if I add another ground anywhere will off set what I’m missing or has broken that I can’t find as I can’t find any other braided strap but was told there more than one for these cars.

Not saying this is right, but on all 3 of my cars that I’ve had/have, the driver side braided ground has broke and has not caused any issues. I never did worry about repairing it or running another. Seems might be something else going on other than a ground potentially.

I ran a 4-gauge wire from a bolt hole on the passenger side of the block to a terminal ground I added to the body. Then I ran a 4-gauge wire from that terminal to battery negative.

Have you considered the possibility the sensor itself got ruined?

thanks for clarifying on the pathway you used. Aem sent me a new sensor wires, and Guage. Hptuners is reading super rich and voltage is showing 8.5. New battery, starter, higher amp alternator, heavy positive battery terminal wire and new braided strap for the one I found broken. Car still doing the same thing. Wb only responds if I push the buttons like the old one did. Only thing left I can think is a fuse which does not make sense or the front 02 sensors as my rears are deleted. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.
