Smile Adding A/C

Hey guys I bought a 2001 firebird that has been 6.0 swapped. All the A/C components under the hood have been pulled out. Can anybody help me with a parts list of what I will need? Also what compressor bracket should I be looking for?

Are you looking for OEM Pontiac original AC items or an aftermarket kit from Vintage Air, Classic Auto Air or Nostalgic Air?

Junkyard would be your best bet. Find a car closest to yours for car-based parts, then a late truck for engine-based parts. Any good A/C shop should be able to connect everything.

I don’t know how much luck one will have with a junkyard looking for twenty five year old parts. If they even have an old F body on the yard you’re still buying nearly thirty year old parts that have been used as rat condominiums for the last twenty years at least.

You get the CORRECT parts setup at the junkyard, then at the parts store get replacements for those parts that may be worn or damaged.
Point being, you will then have the CORRECT parts to replace, if needed, with CORRECT new parts.

First thing you need to know is, which FEAD you have. (front end accessory drive) Obviously this includes the compressor mount & drive. It also includes the crank damper, water pump, and alt/PS bracket(s).

There are 2 that are likely: the truck one (might have come with the engine), and the F-body one (came with the car, if it had a V8 to begin with... we don't know that either). Which comp M&D you need will depend on what you already have. If I were the guessing kind, I would guess you have the F-body one (original to your car), because the truck one is not easy to get to fit in a F-body (alt is in the wrong place, rad hose is incompatible, etc.) butt until you tell us, we can't know that.

What you will need to restore the AC will depend on which "A/C components under the hood have been pulled out". Lines? Accumulator/dryer? Evap housing? Blower motor? "All" is a pretty big word for such things. Nobody out here can give you a "parts list" without knowing what's missing; and even then it's likely to be at least somewhat inaccurate.

I bet all means all this time since it’s a swap. Lines, evap, drier, compressor, high/low pressure switches.

The bracketry might be the hardest to come by new.
