1999 5.3 with a BTR intake So I'm in the market for a new project. Looking at a hot rod with a BTR intake with a DBC TB on a 1999 5.3. Headers. Cam?
The owner is claiming 600 hp. No docs to back up the HP numbers yet provided.
I'm calling while being polite BS.
What mods would it take to get 600 hp out of a NA 5.3 and still be streetable? I don't think it's possible.
What say you?

Nod politely and be glad you're now convinced that he's a bald-faced liar, and now he himself has warned you not to believe another word out of his mouth, unless you can verify it with your own eyes.

it will be an interesting call.
More likely, the seller will just beat his meat over the inflated power number. He won't listen to any kind of rational talk about it. It'll just be a total waste of breath trying to argue about it. Cut it off and hang up. Not a hill worth dying on. Not even a molehill let alone a hill.
If the rest of the vehicle is OK, even with some weeeeeeenie 5.3 in it, and you think either that it's adequate or that it's something you can deal with at the price being asked, then that's one thing. OTOH if d00d thinks this POS is "worth" mucho extra $$$ because of this number bogosity, nod politely, decline to open your wallet, and say goodbye.

So today I spoke to one of the employee's of the owner of the vehicle. He said it has a super charger. I asked for engine build details and dyno sheets. No reply so far.
Even with a super charger I'm guessing 600 hp at the crank much less 600 RWHP is not possible on a street vehicle?
