Default cutout on a off road pipe?

Is it worth it putting an exhausr cutout with my mods bellow? I heard that since I have a off road pipe that there's no point. Will it at least make my car louder? Also i heard people LOSING HP and TQ after adding a cut out. This true? I just ordered it and need to know fast, cause if i am wasting my money i'll cancel it.

I have pacesetter longtubes and tsp ory. I have a hooker catback with a cutout on the I pipe. I sounds great when the cutout is closed. It is LOUD with it open. Real loud. I like it though. I feel that it takes away some low end torque, and maybe pulls (a little bit) harder up top. Just my opinion!

I want really loud, I'm just worried about possibly losing power. So i'll probably lose low end torque? Then should i really even bother then?

Well if you want loud thats what your gonna get! Mine sounds mean when the cutout is open. Im just telling you what I feel and what others have stated. I feel like I lose some low end torque when its open. I also feel like I gain some up top though. I read a dyno sheet somewhere that someone gained like 14 or 15 hp with it open. I like it, and if you like loud you will too.

and one last question. When the cut out is capped, my car will act as if the cut out is not there at all? In other words, when I cap the cut out, my car will perform and sound like it did before I welded the cut out on right?

thats right. I usually just keep mine capped, but sometimes i let loose the fury. When its capped you wont even know you have a cutout.

dude, this "losing low end torque" is merely a theory imo. from looking over dyno sheets time and time again, and quartermile times...it simply changes your power band. it moves it up. launch higher (as cut outs are more useful for the track and *should* only be used there lol, ...right...) and bam, there's your "low end torque". stop light to stop light runs yeah you may feel a bit slower if you can't rev it up.

at the track...you will notice a difference. how big ofa difference? that will depend on which catback you go with or have.

as for loud...asking if a cut out with an ory is loud is like asking a hetero if he likes poontang...so the answer...um yeah its loud.

good luck

I think that the reason people say it feels like you are loosing low end torque is simply because the car sounds louder down low. When the car makes more noise, your brain thinks the car is working harder, so it does seem like you are a little weaker down low.

I have:

Hooker Longtubes
Hooker ORY
DMH Electric Cutout (on ORY).

My car is so insanely loud it scares whoever is in the car. I have a stall converter too now and that helps make it even louder. If you want speed and sound, get a cutout. I would recommend an electric cutout, I love mine. This way you can cut it off when a cop is around. I have been saved many times by this.
