Default Sweet Thunder PICS

Here are some detailed pics of Sweet Thunder chambered mufflers. In case anyone was wondering, because I know I was clueless before buying them.

And here they are on my car. The first pic is my old setup with bullets mounted under the seats (floorboard). The second pic is my current setup with the Sweet Thunders tucked in the driveshaft tunnel...much better clearance.

Same decibel level I'd say. But the tone is completely different throughout the entire rpm range.
It's hard to articulate, but the bullets had a buzzy, farty kind of sound...whereas the chambered mufflers have a deep, psuedo-mustang sound. Make sense?

Also, 2Much, glad I could help.

Yeah the sweet thunders have a different sound in person then they do on LS1Sounds and everything else you would hear.

I just got my true duals over the axel put on last Tuesday and I really like the sound. My best friend has true duals dumped with Bullets and they have such a different sound. I would not even say it was the same car if I did not know better....

Nice looking setup you have. Do you have any pictures of your car on the ground to show ground clearance? Do you get any rasp without having cats?

Ahh.. how does it feel to have that clearance back?

Getting the sweet thunders tucked probably gained close to 3" over those bullets in your original position I bet..

Congrats, I can't wait to get another set of STs.

I don't have any pics of the clearance yet, but my former y-pipe area is the lowest part of the exhaust. Clearance is about as close to stock as you're gonna get with TD's on a lowered f-body.

Btw, I have cats...so to answer your question there is no rasp.

Attached is a pic of my cats right before the TSP x crossover. If you look closely at the driver side pipe, you can see where I scrape the most. That is the lowest part of my exhaust.

Oh yeah. Thanks for your advice earlier in my TD endeavors. You should definitely be a mod in this section, you know your stuff and also have lots of experience.

Also, sorry guys no sound clips. No digi cam for this poor Gator. But they wouldn't do any justice anyway. I've heard Sweet Thunders on ls1sounds and they don't sound anywhere near that in person.

777, yeah, they're stainless. I got them b/c I didn't want any rust here in soggy FL. But I heard they sound exactly the same as the aluminized version. The rest of my exhaust is aluminized, btw.

What length are those? I'm going true dual over the axle and I hear lots of good things about the sweet thunders. Ground clearance is a big issue with my car (Intrax springs, I'm in the weeds). Also, any idea if it's possible to specify a different inlet/outlet diameter on the mufflers without going to their custom package? I'm considering 3" in, 2.5" out (although if I go with teh BMR PHR kit, I'll probably just go 3"/3").

Thanks!

Mine are 18" long. 3" dia inlet/outlet. I don't think that they offer 3" inlet and 2.5" outlet, though. But you could call up and ask to be sure.

FWIW, Intrax springs drop a lot. I really wouldn't recommend true duals with those springs. You'll scrape everything on the road...and forger about clearing speed bumps. Why not just through a cutout on and call it a day? And if you're dead set on true duals (like I was), I'd recommend Eibach prokit springs. Good luck.

What about putting them in the original location like a GMMG setup? I'd like to keep the dual/dual look.

I can't wait to get my Sweet Thunders here so I can get some more ground clearance over my 40 series Flowmasters. I also had Intrax springs when I first did my 3" duals...it will not work! Change them before you go duals. I am also going to be ordering the ground control kit next week.
