Default lowered...midlengths good descision?

ok, i plan on buying headers whether it be midlengths or LT's by the end of the week. i also plan to lower my car shortly there after. will i have clearance issues with the midlengths like with the LT's?
im willing to sacrifice a little bit of power for the sake of clearance so please chime in with any opinions or suggestions

I dont think that MAC's give too much ground clearence more than LT's because its the Y-pipe that hangs low. MAC's do have better GC because of the 2.5" y-pipe instead of 3". How much do you plan on lowering it? I am lowered 1" with LT's and a 3" y-pipe with cats and cutouts. I have very few GC problems.

well im also not wanting to illuminate my SES light, because ive heard LT's will give o2 errors due to the location of the o2's after the install. and im thinking the midlengths have a fairly similar mounting location. i plan on lowering about 1-1.5 i finaly have all my supporting mods for lowering so its just the iceing on the cake.

I have sportline springs(1.75) with lts,ory and have very little ground clearence issues, other than the ride (springs are wayyyy soft) I would not change my setup. I would not hesitate on lts over the mids!

yeah but one of the main issues i had with LT's was all the potential SES codes my car could start to throw due to the placement of the o2 sensors. and i dont really know anyone that would be able to tune/delete codes for me. also missouri = 2nd worst roads in america, so that is also something i need to consider.

I would definately get LTs over mids anyday. I'm lowered about 1.5 inches and I have never scraped my headers or Y-pipe, and the roads around here are pretty shitty in places. If you go with mids I believe down the road you'll wish you hadn't and windup switching to LTs anyway. Just don't go with SLP headers, cause those puppies DO hang low. Hooker, Flowtech, Pacesetter, Kooks, and others I'm sure will do you fine at your ride height.

I've had zero issues with SES lights, except for the time my Dumbass dumped in some leaded fuel and screwed my O2's Other than that I have thousands of miles with the LTs installed without a problem. That definately wouldn't be my reason for not getting them.

I'm getting SES light on after the Mac install. I'm taking the T/A in tomorrow to have it looked at by an LS1 guru.

Good choice, you will not regret it. If the light bothers you that bad just get a set of simms, they will work fine. You should not throw a code on the front sensors just the rears. I did off road headers and !air so I have the light from the !air but never had it with just the simms.

black00TA, I went with Macs because there aren't many choices for convertibles. After a 100 miles or so I now have an SES light. It's being looked at today.

I had Bassani mids on my old WS6. I was very happy with them, and I never would have swapped them for LTs.

I had 1) no ground clearance issues, 2) no codes/SES of any kind ever, 3) no leaks, 4) No banging aganist the floorboards, 5) no need for any clearancing or undercarrige modification of any kind to make the headers/Y fit.

I was working with a cam only street car. I just didn't feel that the small gains of going to an LT on that setup were worth the potential issues. I would do Bassanis again over LTs without a doubt.

well my plan of attack is to use my stock catback well actually a ws6 catback, but have a cutout at the i-pipe and have lt's or mids without cats. so im also going for sound but mainly for clearance and SES codes.

SHop around for a used set of Mac mids . I got a set with the ORY in excellent condition for $150 bucks . With that kinda price you WON'T lose going with mids !

I am also curious as to which has better ground clearance. It sounds like one of the guys above has good luck with Pacesetter's. Anyone lowered with MACs?

I am running MAC's with no cats and there is some ground clearance. The only time I have problems is when I go over speed bumps or going up/going down steep hills and then it is flat (kinda like a driveway). I have the eibach pro kit.

Kooks, QTP, TTS, etc. all have good clearance. SES lights can be managed, I have the TTS and get maybe one per year, replacing the 02 sensor usually fixes it.
