Default advise: If you installed the ASP crank pulley what did you think? Is it worth it?

Hey all:
I was looking into buying the ASP crank pulley for my 02 Z-28 but wanted to hear from some of you what you really think of it and is it worth it?
Thanks all

Default ASP Pulley

I'm really happy with mine. I got the underdrive pulley for the crank and the 10% overdrive for the alternator. I ALWAYS had problems with the factory belt slipping and with the alternator going south on the factory set up. Everytime I hammered the throttle on the stock stuff, the voltage would drop off until I backed off. Then, when I pulled over to write a citation, the car would always be discharging.
Since installing the ASP setup, no such problems and the alt is charging well. ASP also has great prices and your getting an S.F.I. cert. pulley as well.

I got the alternator and crank pulley installed about 4 months ago. Didnt feel any difference in power, but I guess every little bit counts. My alternator went out on me about two weeks after it was installed, not sure if it was related. Other than that I think its a good mod.

PUt one on my car, no issues with it. I don't ahve any before/after results as I did several things at once, but it can't hurt.

I installed the asp under drive pulley without any ill effects on my electrical system. There are many opinions on power gains with the U/D pulley. I looked at it this way; you are spinning your accessories slower so you have to gain power unless your accessories do not have any resistance & we know they do. You can look at it this way as well. When you get 100k miles on your motor your accessories will have only 75k. Maybe they will last longer.

I have the asp pulley. I bought the overdrive alt. pulley too but it didn't fit right. I ended up just using the crank pulley. I didn't end up needing the alt pulley because I didn't notice any differance in the battery charging. I am very happy with my pulley I think it was worth it

When i got the underdrive crank pulley I notcied a 300rpms drop in idle and major charging issues. Got a tuen to raise the idle and fixed the problem. Best I ran is 13.3 fom my previous 13.6 both in 100 degree weather after a 2 hour drive and hot lapped runs..so 3 tenths came from the tuning and pulley I would assume..like everyone else said every lil bit counts...rpms man spin up slightly quicker if any.

BIG question for you. Is that a department car that has all the mods or is that for your personal car at home? I was wondering if you spent the money on the police chaser mods and get to rawhide the car all day while doing "work".

I changed mine during my first cam swap, so I don't know exactly how much I gained from it. One thing I did notice though, was that the engine rev's up faster(quicker) than it did before.

I did a back to back comparison with the ASP 25% underdrive crank pully only.

Before pulley 423.8 HP 371.3 TQ
After Pulley 432.1 HP 384.6 TQ

I picked up 8.3 HP and 13.3 TQ.

Not bad in my opinion.

In the middle I picked up as much as 20 Hp and 20 Tq in varying places.

This is also with a 4L60E.

I asked Cartek before I bought it if it worked and they said it did and they were right. This was the first back to back comparison they had ever done on a heads and cam car. They said they usually see about 5 HP and 10 TQ on milder cars.

Wow thats impressive! I read the posts and put one on. I could not tell much differnce. I know its about four pounds lighter and thats good. Was that a true back to back? same day same dyno. I have seen a five HP difference in a seventeen minute time frame.

The UD pulley is a great mod to do. Even if you don't notice a gain, it's sure to make a dyno improvement. And if it doesnt do that, it still spins all the accessories slower which will make them last longer. It's a good mod anyway you look at it. Also, the speed at which you can rev the motor is greatly increased. I have a vid of the rev rates between stock and ASP, but its not hosted.

Car will rev like a beast. That is what I noticed after the install. I have to keep a close eye on my shift light.
