what does everyone in here recommend when buying a pully, brand?, both underdrive and alternator or what? and are they woth it?

ASP pulley here. I went with only the crank pulley.

No, while driving everything is normal for me. I got the crank pulley and alternator from ASP. Good product.

crank pulley from ASP is what i went with.good mod for what it cost me.

The overdrive alternator pulley is just to speed up the alt to prevent any possible charging issues. You should be way good on your SS being that it's an M6 (higher idle speed than auto) as long as you don't have an insane aftermarket stereo I would think.
I've got just the crank pulley on my M6 and the only time I notice my battery lower than normal is if I'm at a stop for a while with the rear window de-frost, head & fog lights and blower motor on high. In fact my 2 previous cars had just the crank pulley (they were both autos...a 95 Z28 & 85 Corvette) and if I sat at a light for a while at night, I would just pop it to neutral to raise the idle.

I decided on the "new" SLP pulley (old one had issues with false knock) on account of the high belt retention walls: http://www.slponline.com/view_produc...1&BIG=100221-1 I read that some cars with weak idle tensioners & 25% U/D pulleys had issues with throwing belts at higher RPM's.

The SLP pulley is made in Australia and is available under the name "Powerbond" I believe. If you see a pic of the Powerbond compare it to the SLP to make sure though.

Do yourself a favor and check the sponsors for the best price. I got mine on sale from T-Byrne with a new bolt & both belts for $210 SHIPPED

ASP makes a real good pulley. No need for the overdrive alternator pulley unless you are running amps or somethingl ike that.

Now I've also heard that pulleys will help w/ gas mileage. Is this true? Have any of you guys experienced better gas mileage w/ the pulleys?

Not sure if it would be enough to notice, but hypothetically it should. Less parasitic drag on the engine.

I had a post this past week about the pulleys and stuff. After reading this post I'm confused. Is the crank pulley the same as the underdrive pulley or what? Someone posted that I should buy the underdrive pulley but here it says the crank pulley. I'm totally lost on which one of the ASP pulleys I need?

i want to get an underdrive pulley for my 97 formula. how easy is this to put on? will there be any problems associated with getting a pulley? i know i'll have to get a shorter belt, but aren't belts expensive?
