400rwhp possible with just bolt-ons?
This question isn't for me, but my friend.
Is it possible to attain 400rwhp using boltons only, no internal work, no major power adders, just boltons. Also is it possible to attain 20rwhp from just a dynotune with a car with the full boltons.

With no dyno tricks, I would say no you couldn't get 400 rwhp bolt-ons only... you might be able to get there if you start out with a factory freak (one that dynos over 320 rwhp bone stock), then add all the bolt-ons including high velocity merges on the headers, a great tune, stepping down to something like a 3.23 gear in an M6 with a stock rear end, carbon fiber driveshaft, with lightweight 15" wheels with the air pressure maxed out on the rear tires on an incredibly friendly dynojet. Then you might get there...

i'd say no way you will get those numbers...most people get like 360 so i wouldn't expect 40 more rwhp over everyone else...a lot of people struggle to get 400rwhp out of a cammed and bolt-on car...just fyi

some kid i know dynoed 365 rwhp through a 2002 ss with just headers, no cats, and a borla catback, through a 12 bolt.. i think if you do everything possible including a lsx 90mm, 90mm tb, cf driveshaft, aluminum flyhwheel, lightwieght clutch option, 10 bolt with 323 gear, and some sick tuning you may see mid 380's if you have a freak, but i dont know about the 400 rwhp mark

I seriously doubt it, but there is always the infamous X-PACKAGE that claims over 400 rwhp with bolt ons only. Although it has been performed on only 1 car and noone has stepped up to tear have it torn down and checked. the car does make the power but hasnt been proven that it doesnt have any internal work. The company claims they will prove it but noone has stepped up to the challenge.

I'm sure it will start an arguement... 99.9% of every one on this board says no, but they did flat out say put your money where your mouth is and they would prove it, but noone stepped up. I dont see how its possible myself, but untill someone steps up what can you say. They have only ever dont this package to 1 car though.. If it were true, you would think that they would have thousands of orders pending, but then again you just never know.

It HAS been done before, although like it was mentioned, you never know if dyno tricks were a factor. It would require the best of everything. Stepped headers with velocity merge collectors. ported MAF and TB. electric waterpump. pulley, porribly short belt. and a rediculously good tune. Yes, 20 HP is possible from tuning. Look at the times magnus' car is running, stock internals.
