X-Pipe VS. H-Pipe
I done a search and came up with nothing so here we go. I'm going with true duals on my 02 Z28 and was wondering how many use X-Pipes and how many H-Pipes. I'm sure that the X-pipe is used more but what are the benifits over the H-Pipe?
I just spoke with a very respectable exhaust shop who has done countless true duals on these cars and he said he's used both H & X with little to no difference between the 2 other than the X is more $. Thanks in advance..

I suspect that an H pipe will be easier/cheaper to come up with as well as provide clearance as the 2 pipes dont have to come together like an x, the crossover can be placed, bent, flattened easily enough to keep everything tucked up well. And then there's that thing about H-pipes being more rumbly

Whats the point of an H-pipe or the X-pipe? Does it make better power than just true duals?
Ive been into turbo 4 cyl cars too long can someone explain it to me. Thanks.

a crossover helps equalize pressure from side to side... still, my favorite exhaust of all time would have to be 4 into 1 cobra side pipes... no crossover whatsoever, still makes good power and sounds plenty nice.

Just to elaborate a little on what Hardtop00SS said.
X-pipe: Better scavenging, slightly larger hp increase, little louder exhaust tone, much more complicated and thusly costs more money to make, takes up more space than the H-pipe
H-pipe: Still scavenges but not as well as the X-pipe, slightly less hp increase than the X-pipe, has a deeper/smoother tone, is very simple to make, takes very little space and can fit in spaces the x-pipe can't, cheaper than the X-pipe
Straight pipes: No scavenging, no equalization of pressure between the two sides, less hp than either H or X-pipe, raspier/louder exhaust tone, cheapest of the true duals
I placed them in order of performance. Most people say that H-pipe setups sound better than X-pipes but the X-pipes outperform the H setups. It's all about what you're looking for. If you want the best possible sound go with the H-pipe, if you want the best possible performance go with the X-pipe.

heres how it works on stangs, so im assuming the same is true here.
H pipe- more low end power (torque), "american muscle sound"
X Pipe,- more power uptop (horsepower) "ferarri sounding"
its all in what you want. Remember that HP isnt everything, Torque is more important.

Yea, I've always thought that the H-pipe gives a bit more low-end and the X-pipe gives a bit more high-end. I personally like the H-pipes better because of the low-end and sound but it's all in personal opinion.

I have an H pipe on my car right now and I just ordered my texas-speed true duals with an X.
Once I get that on there I'll let you know the differences. My current setup has bullets and the new one will have sweet thunder mufflers, IDK if that will affect anything other than sound.
