What actually makes the sound....
What actually makes the sound.... ... from the engine when you are say in 5th gear at 45mph. You floor it or goose it, you hear a sound, almost like air rushing but not exactly. Just wondering what exactly causes this sound? I thought about air in and out of the motor but your rpms arent exactly climbing fast since you are so low in the gear.

its air trying to rush in because you opened up the TB all the way........it creates a High Vacuum in the manifold.....which sucks in anything it can get...from many different spots...

I dont like to band aide things. Just incase it is a problem. I dont usually floor it in 5th at 40... just something I have noticed when I was casually cruising and shifted to 5th instead of 3rd while conversating. He said PUNCH IT, I laughed and said ok.. did that and heard the "air sound". The engine just gets louded but the rpms dont/cant rise even remotely quick.

I think I know what sound you are talking about. It's almost like a popping/clicking noise. Like if you "click" your tongue real fast, if you know what that means LOL. I HATE punching my car at low RPMs unless I'm in first cause it makes that ******* sound.

it means your in the wrong gear!!!!j/k. i know aht your trying to explain. couldny discribe it my self either. like when you try to start from a stop in 3rd and it kind of sputters?
Yeah i dont think its a click... well... no i dont think its a click. It just sounds like the engine is working extra hard, but the rpms of course cant go anywhere. Which is why i wonder what MAKES the sound since it isnt physically spinning faster. So in turn, it cant be moving more air, can it? Because thats what it sounds like...
