when I had my true duals I ran hooker longtubes into 3 inch cutouts after each primary, then a soundcat cat behind them. It worked out very well as the cats have good clearance. It can be done, and as far as I'm concerned its a good setup as you can maintain emissions and have the cutout for power. The only problem with the Texas system is where they place the cat, it is very far back away from the collector. The farther away they are the worst they will work as they need very high heat to work right. This is why the government says its illegal to move cats, since they want them to work properly. I had my bigger soundcats much closer and they weren't a problem in regards to ground clearance. I paid 50 bucks for each one on ebay, then made my own cutouts and welded them together myself, so mine was very cheap. It probably just as much to get that Texas kit as it is to piece together the parts and have a shop weld them up together, so I wouldn't walk away from that kit, and I'm not familar with any other kits, so there could be a better one, I just don't know. An exhaust shop culd probably build you a nice Y with cutouts and cats. In fact you could probably use your old cats, they are about 4-4.5 inches thick, so this leaves enough room to weld a large 3 inch pipe if you so desire, and the Y should cost another 150 bucks to have made with the cats welded in, and this is cheaper than the Texas kit, of course it won't be mandrel bent, but its still plenty of flow
