Question Specs for Sweet Thunder

I have a LM on my 98 TA....what exactly are the specs for a weld in Sweet Thunder Muffler to go in place of the resonator? I am assuming 18" long, 3" in and out...just a little guidance please

Actually,
The 18" muffler is 24" total. The 3" has a 3" inlet/outlet, but it has a 2.5" core.

In all honesty, the Sweet Thunder isn't the best option for replacing the resonator. I would look into a Borla XR-1 ( 40085 ).

With the location of the resonator, and my car being lowered, I read that the Borla has even worse ground clearance issues...is that true??

The Borla has a larger body so yes, ground clearance will be an issue. The Sweet Thunder mufflers have a 3" body. They will not be any larger than your IM pipe.

The resonator is 3" all the way through. Sweet thunder Narrow down to 2.5" inside. They sound great.

Well, other than a few bolt on's, the car is stock and will stay that way....what I care most about is the sound, not the 3 hp going back down to 2.5" might give up. I bought the car with the LM already installed, and its just obnoxious as hell...not to mention it sounds like a giant fart cannon borrowed from a Honda....i want something with a mean sound, not necessarily loud with alot of rasp and popping back like the LM...thanks again

What I was going to look into for my LM was a 1 chamber 3.5 inch in/out flowmaster. The pipe on the LM is 3 inch but the resonator goes to 3.5 inch I believe. I have never heard this setup but think it would refine the sound just enough without making it too quiet.

Here are the muffler specs:

Part #: 389-9435109
In/Out: 3-1/2''
Body: 6-1/4''
Chambers: 1

Did you see the width on that bad boy? 10.25" not gonna fit my friend. Not without some modifications anyhow.

FWIW, the LM resonator swells to a 4" diameter I think. I'll have to measure it. I've toyed with the idea of adding a sweet thunder I've got laying around into my current setup, but don't want to lose the horsies up top. Planning on a cam soon too, so I don't want to choke it up.

I put a 3" sweet thunder in the I-pipe of my Z and the sound is great, over the stock muffler that is. I wasn't really all that worried about any loss in power either. It was pretty much to wake to exhaust up for now. When I get my headers next year I'll be going to true duel over the axle anyhow.

That link doesn't work. I wanna check those pics out though. I'd like to refine the sound of my Hooker and ORY a little bit. Think you could check out that link and fix it real quick?

O.K. try this one.

It's a custom setup but I think it could still be doable on a LM by an exhaust shop. I think the one used here is a 2 chamber.

what would happen if you would cover the gap in the I pipe and put the resonators out the back before the tips? Just use 2 mufflers instead of one?

There is a thread that I remember where the guy put 2 one chambers in his tail pipes of his LM. I am too lazy to search for it right now, but he said it sounded really good.
