Default I need the deepest/throatiest noise ever...

Ok.. I know its been well known that a Ford Mustang with some cats or straight pipes or Flowmaster's will make for a good purr. However when I ask people about Camaro vs Mustang on sound/noise, they choose the mustangl. So I need the opinion of people who have heard more than one muffler, not just an opinion that theirs is the best. Will someone tell me what the best setup is to get the nicest/throatiest noise possible, so the next time I roll up the the gym next to that Cobra, he can Purr, but I can roar...

I'm running Corsa now, and that is NOT what you want. I would say that in order to go deep and throaty, do some true duals with Moroso SpiralFlows, FloPro Twisters or Borla XR-1's.

i would agree with that. i've got a borla with pacesetter headers, ory, and a TSP 231/231 cam and i can't take it. it's sooooo god damn loud and raspy. duals would be the way to go.

at idle and WOT it sounded mean as hell. from about 2000-4000 RPM it sounded like complete ***. way too much rasp. now with the cam idle still sounds awesome, but until the converter goes into lock up, it is just LOUD.

a friend of mine had mac mids, off road x and borla xr1's dumped b4 the axle and it was the absolute best sounding ls1 i have ever heard--3 times he went by me and i did a head check thinking it was a mustang. now if u had an lt1--id go flowmaster 40 series dumped.

if you want the deepest go true duals dumped, if not i think gmmg is the best sounding catback and deep, which is why i ended up getting one. mustang may sound better at idle (after the cam a mustang wont campair though) but once you give it gas it sounds better

Talking

LT Headers + GMMG = SEXY!!

LT Headers + GMMG + CAM =

Or, LT Headers + Cam + Cut-Out for the same sound and performance...

Dude what car do you have LT1 or LS1? Because the LT1 sounds much better then the LS1 IMO with any catback, especially with GMMG or Borla. If you have an LS1, i would go with GMMG or True Duals

Assuming this is on an LS1, since this is an LS1 site and you didn't specify a car....

TRUE DUALS. Possibly with dumps for economical reasons if nothing else.

They sound good with plain old dynomax bullets, and even better/quieter with different mufflers such as magnaflow, flowmaster one chambers or sweet thunders.

You won't get a great sound out of these crappy **** Y-pipes. Why do you think mustangs sound good? They come with their own "true duals" with an H-pipe. THe only y-pipe setup that is good, imo, is the GMMG. But by the time you order up a catted Y-pipe and the gmmg you are looking at spending a lot of money.

Very true. Just go TD's, LS1 OR LT1.

i am not sure, but if I remember correctly, small block fords(modulars inc) also have the same firing order as a traditional SBC. IMO its the firing order that makes LS1s sound the way they do, however, its suppossed to be a more efficient firing order, so I personally don't mind the sound since its part of why LS1s make so much more power, stock for stock.

ditto on the tsp true duals but get em with the sweet thunder mufflers. After going with bullets i'm so bummed i didnt go with the sweet thunders. It is LOUD though and you will definitely turn heads. I think they are one of the best mods to date.
