Cool QTPs HVM VS Kooks ????

I had my mind set on a pair of QTPs with the HVM for my car but SDPC is running a sale on Kooks and the price is really good.

Will I see more HP qith the QTPs ?? Will it be enough to make them worth it ????

I have a 2002 SS, A4, Stock except for a Lid.

I have the QTPs with the HVM and I like them a lot. I don't know what the difference in hp would be between them and the regular collector. If the Kooks are cheaper then go with them. Both headers are great quality

I'm a Kooks fan; however, QTP has an outstanding reputation for engineering, and quality. They're stainless, which I think is superior to coated or painted mild steel, and, according to QTP, the High Velocity Merge long-tubes are supposed to be good for 40 RWHP.

If I hadn't chosen Kooks for my Trans Am, I would've gone with the QTP's. Tough choice, but I don't think you'll be disappointed with either.

you will see more ponies with the QTPs HVM vs Kooks... since QTP uses a true merge collector Y pipe and the HVM headers have those collectors at the end that change size to maximize flow and speed of gases passing by... i got the QTPs and they work!

What make QTP and Kooks headers better than SLP? Beside the fact that you can't drop your ride lower with SLP headers. What other reasons make those other LT Company headers better than SLP.I'm very sorry for hijacking this thread,Please forgive me on this.

Kooks/ QTP headers are T304SS and will not develope surface rust as much as SLP 409SS. Of course the SLPs are coated, but how many have you seen on cars, or in " for sale " pictures that don' t have surface rust or chipping/ flaking coating? Every one I have seen has some chipping and or surface rust. Also, Kooks/ QTP headers have a velocity spike, even on non-HVMC headers, which are said to increase velocity too. To my understanding, no other popular headers have this feature.

That' s not to mention how easy they are to install. For perspective, it took me and my brother 12 hours to install a set of MACs, and had I had the car high enough, less than half the time for the QTPs. AND, the MACs are mid-length, not long tubes. All I would have had to remove was the oil filter. It couldn' t have been easier, unless I had a magic wand. From what I have seen, many times, one has to drop the engine cradle to install the SLPs.

You get what you pay for...

My vote goes to the QTP HVC headers. Every little bit helps.

I have the KOOKS, and love them! I get alot of compliments about them, but if you've got the cash, get the QTP HVC.

I've had my SLP headers for over a year, no surface rust and no problems with the coating. No real problems installing them either following the directions, except you have to remove the starter, which is an extra 15-20 mins. Didn't have to mess with the K-member, or get the front end crazy high, just jack stands and the rear wheels on ramps.
That said, I am going to switch to Kooks or QTP, because the ground clearance does blow after lowering 3/4"

I say go with the set of kooks. The price is killer and if I had the money right now I would order a set in a heart beat.

Kooks have a LT header set (1 3/4 x 1 7/8 x 3) can this match the QTP HVMC?

My car went from 425/390 (with ls6 intake+SLP LT's) to 460/403 (with Fast90+QTP HVM LT's)- same heads and cam.

I drove the car after swapping the headers (and before swapping the intake) and the car felt much more responsive down low. I'm a firm believer in the QTP HVMC LT's. Worth the extra $$$ IMO. I think they're a key component in my old setup making 480rwhp right now with its new owner.

How is fitment on these? I would like to spend no more than 800 but dont want to notch the k member or do any bending and tweeking. Also I want y pipe with no cats. Should I go with the qtp, kooks, or pacesetter? thanks.

Fitment of QTP LT's is top notch. They slide right in. The QTP catless Y-pipe has better ground clearance than the catted Y-pipe and the dual cutout Y-pipe. It has a true Flowmaster Merge Collector which merges the left and right pulses instead of smashing them together (as many other Y-pipes do).
If you want to spend no more than $800, QTP is not for you, KOOKs is running a sale- might want to jump on that. Pacesetter's a fine header but not stainless like QTP and KOOKs.
