Default Hp/trq Gains From Long Tube Headers?

what are the average gains reguarding adding long tube headers?? im thinking about getting some pacesetters with ory. Do all headers gain the same power, or are there some brands that seem to achieve more power?? thanx

a stock or close to stock car, 15-20 hp would be the average gains.
for the most part, all headers will give equal gains, but some are built better then others.

I don't care what you hear from anyone else. I have dona alot of research on here & other sites to find this out myself. All LT's make right at about the same amount of power & torque. They differ by less then 10hp. Many might try to argue, but I don't care. These gains are based off of STOCK LS1 motors. Now if you have any motor mods you could easily see better gains. This is where people leave out the important information. I have had guys argue that they got 40+hp out of a header install. Then after arguing the point was brought up that they had other supporting mods. This will indead effect your gains. In the end the decision is all on you. Either get a good coated set from Pacesetter(for quality & fitment reasons) or go stainless & get QTP or KOOKS. Granted some of the other smaller named brands have had comlaints of crappy flanges, exhaust leaks, & so forth. Your best bet is to decide your current goals for the motor & car. Then just research whatever brands you think you would like to go with. Good Luck in your decision.

BIG_MIKE2005 said it best. I have the pasecetter, like them but they will end up rusting in the long run. either get the pasecetters because of cost or get the kooks or qtp's as they will last longer

Well, I suppose it won't hurt to mentioned that LT headers were the first mod I put on my ZO6, a month after I bought it, March 2002. I got a lot more than 10 Hp by measurement.

I put a set of Lingenfelter long tube headers 1 3/4 inch diamter tubes (these are made by Billy Boat but available only through Lingenfelter -- much longer than the B&B short tubes avaialble everywhere).

After tuning the PCM, the engine picked up 15 SAE-adjusted standard temp & humid HP (372 vs 357 RWHP). More important though it picked up a lot of low end torque, a max increase of nearly 25 ft lb at 2800 RPM.

Now that I have a 427 in the car I have 1-7/8 inch Kooks LT on it and have never run the car without them so i have no idea how much difference they make.

Not all headers are created equal. All have different designs and materials. SOme have more than others. A turbulance spike, ported flanges, cleaner welds, merge collectors and primary tube size. Then there is the y pipe. Is it crushed and how it merges. When you add up the differences you will seen noticable gains. So IMO the high end ones will make more power.

In my sig are the gains I got going from completely stock exhaust to Pacesetter longtubes, TSP ORY, and the Hooker catback. This is without a tune though, which is needed to reach the full potential.

Pretty much I gained 15.53rwhp and 17.75rwtq. The gain was across the board though, I would post the before/after graph, but it's too large. I can email it to someone that can make it smaller though....

i dont think the power gains are important.
what do they do at the track is what i look at.
2-3 tenths is pretty common without cats.

wow, so are lids only good with no other mods? I always thought that they were good for up to 15rwhp. Also, I thought ported TB's were usually worth at least 6rwhp.

Were the dyno pulls done under the same conditions?

My car ran 13.0@108 with bolt-ons/nittos/4.10's/no LS6 intake. After kooks/ORY/Magnaflow catback I got it down to 12.5@111.Learning to drive the car better may have accounted for a tenth or two.
