I kept mine. Visual and sniffer test here in NJ. Yes, the plumbing would nice to lose but not possible here.

Question egr air parts

ok so what are the parts i remove for the egr and air deletion...2000 pontiac formula/TA...i took off the tubes that go to my manifolds and the big ones that go to the round valve on the rear part of the driver side head, i also removed that round valve (is that the egr?) and does that bracket come off itself? and from there there is a tube that goes down to the front driver side fender well unerneath the fuses (does this come out and what about what that attaches too? is that the air? theres another big black hose that connects to my factory air lid (can that come out as well?)

Does keeping it on have any adverse affects with spraying nitrous? I was going to leave it on just so I didn't have to get a tune just for that or see the SES light.

Maybe I missed it, but after reading the thread, I still have a question about removing the AIR system. I am in FL, where there is no emmisions testing. However, should I leave the state, I want to be able to pass an emmisions test. I am mostly stock right now (only suspension + free mods) and am having problems with the AIR system. The passenger side hose is leaking right after the check valve, and the hose is getting dry, hard, and cracking. I also think the check valve is shot too, since once the hose comes off the check valve (probably due to pressure) there is a loud "pinging" and rattling noise from it.
From what i've read in this thread, my solution would be to:
1. Remove the entire AIR system
2. Install block-off plates (available from our fine sponsors)
3. Remove code using Ls1 Edit or HPtuners.

My questions are this: Since I will have the car paid off in July (whoo hoo!) I plan to save up a couple of payments, and buy some Dynatech stainless headers with hi-flow cats. Does anyone know if these headers come with an option to get them without AIR tubes? Will not having the AIR system reduce the life of my cats? (either stock manifolds/cats, or headers/cats) can I do the AIR delete right now and install blocking plates without causing damage to the cats? How much is the ballpark figure to have the codes deleted at a shop? (might as well have CAGS removed too)

Basically, I have no need (or love) for the stupid AIR system. I just want to be able to attain my end goal of having headers and cats, while still being able to pass an emmissions test with no AIR system.

if you leave the air pump itself connected and have rear O2 simulators, will the PCM still require tuning to keep the SES from coming on?

I got a question. What are you guys doing to plug the vacuum line that goes to that distribution block the AIR system hoses go into? I know you can't just leave it or you'll have a leak.

Put a screw in th line, or if you can reach the back of the vacuum distribution block, just put a vacuum cap on it. Simple.

Sorry for the silly question, but can you pick those up at a typical auto parts store?

I kept mine initially ... burnt up my check valves EVEN WITH THE RESTRICTOR PLATES ... so I pulled it out a few weeks after the header install. Haven't looked back since ... so I only regret not pulling it out sooner

Wait. Not sims, you mean sensors, right? You still need O2 sensors and extensions. Sims are for simulating O2swhen you take them out, right?
