BBK vs. LS6 (Intake Manifold)
Im trying to decide which would be better for my car. I searched through some threads but I would still like some recommendations. So vote Damnit!!
Right now my main engine mods are a lid, Pacesetter L/Ts, and the LS1 Hotcam kit. I was about to buy the LS6 but I came across the BBK while looking around.
After searching, it sounds like Im going to need a new throttle body with the BBK? So if anyone has any suggestions post em up!!!

I dont enough about either to vote but I can tell you that all you will hear on here is about the heat soak. Im sure the composite runs cooler but how much cooler? And is it that big a difference to make a big difference in pwer? I dont think so but I will enjoy watching this thread.

As far as heat soak, and icing the manifold goes. I will not be at the track very often, maybe just once or twice to see what it can do. 99% of the driving will be done on the street. So I guess heat soak really isnt an issue for me.

Heat soak isn't just something you run into at the track. A hot intake on the street will give you the same drop in power. On the street, though, you don't get the chance to ice it down.

How much power i being lost from these aluminum intakes because they are not compsite? C'mon lets hear from some of the guys that have already quoted it as gospel in this thread. 1HP, 2HP, 3HP? Is th BBK intake loosing more power from being aluminum than its gaining from better flow? Does it even flow better? Where's the beef?

I would really like some dyno runs hot vs. cold and see how much this heat soak comes into play.
Can heat soak really be that bad considering almost every performance engine before the LS1 had an alumnium intake? The LS1 is the first performance GM engine that uses the composite manifold.

being the former owner of a weiand aluma manifold ican say that, i was not as pleased as with an ls6,i would assume that the bbk is subject to hi heat soak like the weiand,my weiand would get hot to the touch maybe over 100*-150* which cant be good for power also i polished my weiand to a near chrome finish to combat heat.

i got the BBK SSI intake and it is SUPPOSE to flow 15 % better than the LS6 mainifold and it looks sexy. i havent diven my car yet since i put it on so i dont know for sure but thats what tech said at summit when i bought it. and it was cheaper than the LS6 manifold

The BBK is more expensive, probably 25 lbs. heavier and will suffer from heatsoak. Heatsoak will be more of a problem for a street car, because you can't ice it down at every stoplight. I believe the BBK design is based off the LS6 and doesn't flow any better or worse. Obviously I voted for the LS6!

I sold my weiand to get a LS6. That aluminum intake was a heavy bitch. Have not run the LS6 intake yet though. But I think the LS6 and weiand flow the same. My vote is for the LS6
