Default RaspFest 2005

And it's happening on my car as we speak. With the new LT/ORY setup on the 408 it sounds badass at idle, but anything 2k and above I want to just like... punch an infant. It's driving me nuts I need a new catback setup but I don't want to pay insane amounts of money (aka GMMG). If anyone with a bigger cube motor (370+) and LT/ORY setup could give some input and preferably post some clips or point me to some I'd appreciate it. This thing has got to go.

Throw some high-flow cats on your current setup. That'll eliminate it.

Doh, that would help to know. I have the infamous LM catback.

I'm not looking to put cats in at this time, I just want a better catback setup that will get rid of most of the rasp and drone.

Try just getting the Borla Xr1 in the Loudmouth. Thats what I have with my 427 SS.
Big difference with it.

Peace,
Craig.

I agree. Seems like the best quick fix for the LM is yank
the "resonator" and replace with the XR1.

i would have to say try a hooker catback and if that isnt enough, get cats, but those 2 things combine will surely make your car sound better and cleaner to boot.

XR1 is a good choice, however if you are trying to save money, cats wont hurt either.

If you want to stay with the ORY, go with a Hooker. Quiet catback, nice price. Fits well too. Tips are kinda ugly though...

I've heard some people say that part of the rasp has to do with what type of ORY. My POS pacesetter Y rasps like a bitch, and that's through a Hooker cat-back. I'm not sure what I'm going to do about it yet...Seeing as how I can pick up TDs for the price of a quality ORY. I may try to re-engineer my Pacesetter unit by cutting part of it out and welding in a Flowmaster merge to try and help smooth the exhaust flow. I'm with you man, I'm so sick of my F-body sounding like a glasspack equipped farm truck...

I'm just not so sure a bullet muffler will really help much. I'd rather not spend money on one if I'm just gonna end up needing a different catback setup.

Crager - any sound clips by chance?

I have the FLP LT's, ORY, and Hooker catback. I had the Borla until I dropped out the cars in the FLP Ypipe for the offroad pipes. I have to go with the ORY, since I have my wideband bung welded into the Ipipe. Anyways, the Borla sounded AWESOME ---WITH--- Cat's. Without cats, it sounded like *** ay anything above 2k RPM. Now with my Hooker, the exhaust sounds AWESOME at idle, and any RPM. I would recommend the Hooker since it is not that much and I have had good luck with it so far. Worst case scenario, you sell the Hooker if you don't like it. You should sell the LM ASAP . IMHO it is the worst sounding exhaust.

The above statement is only a first hand OPINION. There will always be people who agree and disagree with the "best" sounding exhaust since "best" is such an ambiguous word.

Good luck
Andy
