Default Why are you still stock internal?

I am thinking about going stock internal only again ... well of course with nitrous later I think si would be a lot easier on the drivetrain than would be heads/cam. What are you all stock internal still?

My Camaro is stock internal because I don't plan to be racing it.

Eventually, I'll get a replacement for my WS6 though, and that one will be modded and raced. It will not retain the stock internals.

Right now its because I haven't swapped in my heads and cam yet but before then it was just a money issue.

I stayed stock internal for a long time (100,000 miles) because I wanted to see how far I could go with it. When I got to the point where I would have to strip the interior to go faster I decided to go with a cam instead. And two trips to the dragstrip later I spun two rod bearings.

Guess maybe I should have kept it SI longer. Lol!

Mine is a daily driver, so I didn't want to go too agressive and risk losing my transportation to work. Right now, I'm saving for a beater of some sort. Next will be a place with a garage. Then will come a rear end, and possibly a tranny rebuild depending on how it holds up.

I've done a full exhaust, all the intake I can while retaining the LS6 intake, new clutch, lots of suspension, some blingin wheels, and a nice stereo. I learned how to tune my car too, so I should be able to tune for anything I get down the road.

With all that is happening in the LSX market, I'm actually content to sit here and wait to see what comes out next. World Products looks like it'll have a great LSX block, the sponsors are bringing head prices down considerably, and with the LS7 on the market, it is only a matter of time before you see some of that technology integrated into the Gen III platform (mainly the heads/intake).

People are getting upper 400s in the RWHP department from stock cubes on a more consistent basis these days. That was something that didn't happen a few years ago.

Lack of funds lol - yeah! I'm so glad we have cars that can reach 11's w/boltons! I don't care how common 11's in an LS1 fbody is - it's still freakin' fast!

The reson i am going to stay si is that i like the fact that i can take a car and trow a few bolt ons at it easy do it on the grage floor type stuff and then get it to run 11s. I will get another car some day and put a stroker in that.

yeah - 11's sounds great with an untouched motor. Then slapping on a 150 shot to run mid 10s!

Lack of money and I still have a warranty on the drivetrain. I've done stuff that wouldn't void the warranty and eventually will get a DD to be able to just mod and drive my T/A only when it's nice. Now it's a DD and I need the reliability as well.

I think money is the bottom line. If money grew on trees, everyone would have a forged stroker...

Absolutely. Money is the only real reason almost anyone here would not mod their engine. A simple cam swap alone can add over 50 rwhp....who doesn't want to do that? Not to mention the lope.
