F.A.S.T. Intake and BMR Strut Brace Cleaance
I have a F.A.S.T. intake manifold installed on my 2000 Trans-AM WS6. Last night I put on the BMR strut brace, there is just over 1/4 inch clearance. I'm a little concerened of the little clearance. I tried revving the engine, but it was getting late and neightbours curtains were twitching. While watching the engine move it didn't move up by much, but I'm worried when engine is under load will it move more and will damage the intake manifold on the strut brace. How much do engines move when under load? Has any one got this kind of installation?

what motor mounts do you have? Stock rubber ones will pose a problem. Poly or solid will not. I know this because I had worked on someones car here at home with this exact issue. His motor would just touch the brace, not enouch to crack it but enough to haze the paint. I installed new poly motor mounts and his problem was solved.
Just think about the posts on y-pipe banging. People install poly mounts and the banging stops. Same thing.

I got some poly mounts about a day after the strut brace (orber them all at the beggining of december 2005, arrived beginning of Feb 2006), still need to install the mounts, got some for the gear box too, I thought my false knock on the engine may be cured by poly mounts, it was worth a go.
Thanks for the info, I'll keep an eye on it to see if it touches and hases the paint. May not be installed for a couple of weeks, need to book a bay at the local garge, have a new clutch, fuel pump, wideband sensor, clutch, rear main seal and tyres to be fitted, may as well get it all done at the same time as the poly mounts.

I'm running the FAST 90 intake with a BMR strut tower brace, and haven't had any problems with the intake hitting the brace. Even with the TSP Magic Stick the engine doesn't shake enough for it to touch.

I've still got the same car. The intake still hasn't rubbed. However it was touching during a clutch swap, so had to loosen off the BMR strut brace.
