What dual exhaust system are you using? What kind of muffler? How much of a drop do you have? All of these things play an important role I am curious as well because I want to lower mine and use the T.S.P. true dual exhaust system with some Sweet Thunder Mufflers and would like to know what kind of clearance I should expect. Pictures too!

It's tough to get good clearance on a lowered car, but it can be done. The only sure way to get max clearance is to go with a custom job. If a shop has a mandrel bender or stocks mandrel bends you can buy an X conjunction, drive your car with open headers, and have them build a custom setup. If they don't, buy Summit or Jeg's universal X kit along with mufflers of your choice and band clamps for a little over $200 and have the shop tweak it to fit and weld it all up. I was lucky because Lane has a pretty good jig for our cars that bolts right up and fits like a glove. Unfortunately, I don't think he's building them anymore and have no way of contacting him.

I did a custom 2.5" on my car and when I do it over, here's what I'm going to do:
1. Get the summit 2.5 x kit
2. position the X so it's off center and a little cocked toward the passenger side
3. run the dual pipes side by side down the factory route.
4. they MAY be able to fit over the axle and may need to be dumped but that's the best way to get ground clearance with a dual setup.
If you go 3", you're just not going to be able to get the clearance because of the spot where the factory "flat pipe" was. Even with 2.5" pipe, that spot is low low low. ...and since it's so close to the engine, I was always scared I was gonna bust my headers when it bottomed out.

I have TSP TD's and I have issues believing it would be livable if the car was lowered. At the same time, mine is sitting back farther than most peoples would because of how we hooked it up, so it may not be as high up as normal. The spot that gives me the most trouble is the one on the passengers side of the floorpan near the torque arm, a hammer would really add some clearance there and where the factory flattened section was. With that massaging done, it MIGHT work.
