Default CORSA vs other exhaust(for my SS)

Fellas,

I know you guys have some experience in this area. Give me your thoughts and opinions. I'm leaning toward a Corsa exhaust system. Right now I have the stock GM exhaust with an 80-series muffler. I want a deeper, throatier tone at idle and prefer a tad bit louder at wide-open-throttle.

Feedback is appreciated.

I like the Borla, it is stainless too and cheaper.

NEITHER!!

Get true duals, cheaper and waaaaay better. You wont find a complaint oh here about them

Ok...I'll give my insight and knowlege. A corsa is not really any louder than the Flowmaster(especially at idle/low rpms). Both have a fairly deep tone but the Corsa seems to have a higher-pitch sound to it. I honestly didn't like the sound clips of it I heard on the their website. It sounded a little better in person. And obviously, the Corsa is stainless steel while the Flowmaster is aluminized. Not to mention you will get more performance with the Corsa exhaust. Oh, the Corsa tips = . Remember, you get what you pay for.

BTW, as a sidenote, I've had several different cat-backs(Random Tech, Borla, SLP LM, & GMMG) and the GMMG was definitely the best sounding one on an LS1 to me. A fairly loud deeper tone than the others without much interior noise.

GMMG is by far the best sounding out there. Price is a bit higher than the rest, but quality is top notch. Personally Im going with true duals. Ill tell ya in a week what I think about that.

What do you guys mean when you say "true duals"? I can assume my stock SS with my factory GM exhaust does not have true duals. Is it worth changing my Y-pipe to a bigger diameter to 3 inches? Is headers an option? My factory GM exhaust is not bad now but would like something better. So your saying with my set up, the Corsa would sound similar? Does the Corsa system come with a Y-pipe? I don't want a loud raspy tone and the GMMG is more deep and throaty than a Corsa? I would hope a GMMG is not as loud as the Loudmouth!

Forgive me guys if these are stupid questions but I'm in real estate and I don't know much about cars'.

Thanks-

my vote goes to... Corsa, the best sound around; and best tips

For my money the Corsa system is the best around (I have one). Nice mellow rumble at idle, great scream at WOT without any interior resonance on the highway. The only way to get true duals is have a new y-pipe fabricated, with new 2.5" tubing running to two small low profile mufflers and no exhaust piping going over the axel. This must all be done by hand and definetely more expensive than buying a premade exhaust. Just my 2¢.

Ray, Like I posted over on the f-bodyhideout, the Corsa is going to be quiet on a stock setup at idle and sound good at WOT. It's not the loudest thats out there that's for sure. GMMG, Borla and Loudmouths all are much louder.

True dual setups are nice, but limit your options for torque arms in the future if that's of interest. Completely rules out the Spohn torque arm as I see it (anyone that figured out how to use that setup?).

Now, with headers every exhaust system gets louder and meaner across the rev range. The Corsa does wake up quite a bit too. At WOT it gets loud, but is higher pitched than the others slighty.

Add a cam and some heads and it's a whole different animal. The sound gets deeper and louder.

And on a Trans Am the tips absolutely have no competition for looks.

I really like how mine ended up and wouldn't change a thing. I get tons of comments on how it looks and sounds. It would be good if you could find someone local with some of those setups so you can hear them. None of the audio does any of the systems any justice.

It is definitely louder and deeper compared to the Corsa exhaust. The Corsa has more of an exotic tone to it while the GMMG is a lot more muscular(throaty) sounding. Both are stainless steel, both will offer good performance, and both are very expensive. But like I said before, you get what you pay for. On the other hand, Borla's, LM's, & cutout's are all somewhat raspy. Remove your cats and just about any exhaust will sound terrible on an LS1 with the afore mentioned being the worst.

borla..no plates..bit of rasp through 1st when nailing it but gets deaper through the gears..I have also heard that after more miles are on it, the overall sound deepens.
I have had mine for a week..I love the look/sound.
good luck with whatever you decide on

How different of a sound note will I see going to a Corsa from what I have now? Right now I have the 80-series muffler with the stock GM pipes.

Does the GMMG have resonance(sp)? That head noise you hear inside the car?

Anyone hear ever heard the Corsa abd GMMG "up close" on a V8 Camaro?

CamSS, with all due respect and I really appreciate you helping me out with the sound clip. But that clip sounds bad...... now maybe it's my computer but that clip makes the LM sound really raspy and not throaty at all. Do you notice any "head drone" with the LM at idle or cruising or WOT?

Do you know of another better sounding bite?

Thanks anyway!!!!!

Hmmmm. Not sure what's going on... It sounds pretty good from here... For a LM, anyway...

The end of the clip has a fair amount of whine as the dyno winds down...

Lemme see if I can pull out the audio from the video for you...

Stand by for a few...
